Stand at your ground on a Saturday and count.
Players, parents, grandparents on the fold-out chairs, the bloke who's been on the gate since 1998, the canteen crew, the away supporters, the sponsor who drove down to watch the firsts.

Now count how many of them your club could reach on any given Tuesday if it had to.
The second number is always smaller. Usually a lot smaller.
That gap isn't apathy. Every one of those people chose to spend their Saturday at your ground. Showing up and being contactable are just two different things.

If you've ever tried to get a message to everyone who turned up last weekend, you know how this one goes.

A club app is not a website with rounded corners.
It's a spot on a home screen. Your badge, sitting between the banking app and the group chat, on the phone of someone who cared enough to put it there.
That's the part that matters. Nobody installs an app for a club they're lukewarm about. The people who do it are your people.
And when your club has something to say, it arrives. Not gets ranked. Arrives.
Your name on it, your news in it, run by whoever runs the club now.
What it looks like for a community club: tiparra.com/community-sports-clubs
If your committee has ever asked what an app would actually get them, this is the short answer.

A new family turns up at your club in round one. The kid has the boots. The parent has the questions.
Where do I find the draw. What time is training. Who do I pay. What happens if it rains.
The honest answer at most clubs is: the page, the league website, the team group chat once somebody remembers to add you, and one long-serving volunteer who knows everything and answers her phone at all hours.
Three of those four don't belong to the club.
That's not a criticism of anyone running it. It's what happens when a club's information lives in places the club can't shape.
And the cost lands on the newest person every time, which is the one you most want to keep.
More on this at tiparra.com/insights/sports-club-app-vs-website
If your club has someone who fields all the where-is-training questions, they'll recognise this one.

Someone at your club writes a post at 11pm on a Tuesday. They find the photo, get the names right, check the spelling of the kid who kicked five.
Seven likes. Yep, that’s all.
And they start thinking nobody cares about the club anymore.
The reality, about one in twenty of your followers actually saw it. The other nineteen never got the chance to care.
Being ignored and never being delivered are two different problems. Clubs make real decisions off the wrong one. They post less, they stop bothering with the junior results, they figure everyone's moved on.
Nobody moved on. The message just didn't arrive.
If you're the one writing those posts, you're not doing it wrong.

If your club has someone who does all the posting, send this their way. We’d love to help.

We went quiet for a few months. The kind of quiet where you stop posting because you're too busy building the thing you'd post about.

Here's what that turned into.

The fan-facing apps have a lot more in them now. And the side your team works in every week, the admin side, has changed the most. It's now its own console, called Mission Control. Inside, there's a big refresh of the insights you get on your fans, supporters and visitors, all in one place.
A lot of this came out of conversations at events across the US, the UK and here at home in Australia (thanks to our friends at the ASTN - Australian Sports Technologies Network). The same thing kept coming up: your relationship with your fans shouldn't live on a feed someone else owns. It should live somewhere you actually control. And it isn't only clubs who feel it. Tourism bodies, events and venues are all after the same thing.
There's also a growing library of free guides and playbooks on our updated website, for the people running this work week to week.
We'll share more specifics in the coming weeks. For now, it just feels good to be back, and we're prouder of Tiparra than we've ever been.

Some milestones feel bigger than sport.

203 Super Rugby caps is an extraordinary achievement, but what makes this moment so special is everything it represents: , , , , and years of showing up for your team.

James Slipper has built a legacy that Brumbies fans will always be proud of.

Having worked with the Brumbies across five seasons, we know how much moments like this mean to a club and its community. We’re honoured to help share this moving Stan Sport Rugby tribute and celebrate one of the greats of the game.
Head to the ACT Brumbies app now to watch the video and join us in celebrating one of the greats of the game.

Congratulations on 203, Slips.
A remarkable record and a legacy to match. ❤️💙

Sport has a funny way of creating connections in unexpected places.

This week we’ve been lucky enough to spend time in Fiji with the Brumbies partner community, alongside organisations including EPC Solar BentSpoke Brewing Co, University of Canberra, Viva Leisure (with brands such as Club Lime, HIIT Republic, Plus Fitness, Ground Up, Rebalance), Vikings group and O'Neills Sportswear.

It’s been a great chance to step back from the day-to-day and spend time with the people behind the partnerships that make the Brumbies community so strong.

A big thank you to Gavin Hunt from the ACT Brumbies for the outstanding hospitality.

Also fantastic to meet Phil Waugh, and connect with representatives from Fiji Airways and the ACT Government Office of International Engagement while we’ve been here.

Rugby continues to prove it’s about much more than what happens on the field.
