Our client wanted a creative, mixed-material palette for their O'Malley home inspired by mid-century design.

To bring that to life in the kitchen, we paired denim blue and kalamata cabinetry with warm timber and terrazzo stone. The same timber and reeded glass details in the dining area tie the two spaces together.

Functional joinery can make everyday life in the kitchen that much easier.

For this renovation, our client needed a space that could handle day-to-day routines just as easily as weekend entertaining. Clever inclusions like the pull-out appliance cabinet, integrated bar fridge, and a hands-free foot pedal to open the bin make prep a breeze while keeping the benches completely clear.

Watch until the end for a quick cameo from two gorgeous white terriers.

Our clients wanted a walk-in shower to replace the existing the shower-over-bath in their Duffy ensuite.

Terrazzo-style tile for the walls and floor guided the rest of the selections: gloss duck-egg blue subway tile in a stacked pattern for the shower wall, complemented by a warm fluted timber vanity and antique brass tapware.

Renovating should never require you to act as the go-between between separate design and construction teams.

When interior design and project management operate independently, critical layout details and product lead times can easily slip through the cracks.

At Salt Renovations, our in-house designers and project managers work side by side in one team. By fully resolving every plan and technical drawing before work starts on site, we take full accountability for your renovation under a single contract.

In this multi-space renovation, we removed the original fireplace and shifted the new gas log fireplace to the adjacent wall. The custom curved blue buffet with a terrazzo top, along with the square-tiled wall, mirrors the finishes we used in the kitchen to tie the lounge right into the rest of the home's palette.

A video walkthrough of our mid-century inspired renovation in O'Malley.

Guided by our client's brief for a creative, mixed-material palette, we anchored the design in the kitchen using denim blue, kalamata, warm timber, and terrazzo. The same finishes feature in the adjoining spaces, including the reeded glass cabinets in the sitting area and the curved bench under the lounge fireplace.

Our artist client wanted a bold and bright combined bathroom and laundry to match the creative vibe of her inner North Canberra home. Embracing colour and pattern, she chose a checkerboard black and white tiled floor with blue kitkat tiles for the walls and Pillarbox red joinery in the laundry zone. A blue glass freestanding bathtub is the hero of the room.

If you ever needed a little courage to embrace colour in your home, let this be it. Visit the link in our bio to chat about your upcoming renovation.

We redesigned and renovated the entire ground floor of this Curtin home, covering the kitchen, living areas, entrance, and powder room, along with updates to the music room and study.

Focus areas included the entrance and kitchen/dining space, however the build went beyond shifting walls and adding custom cabinets. By bringing the kitchen forward, we added a dedicated new laundry and utility room behind it (a vast improvement on the previous inefficient European laundry tucked behind bi-fold doors right in the kitchen).

We also updated the glazing to the back of the home to maximise natural light and open up the visual connection to the back deck.
