It’s the people behind these projects that make this program so special.

We’re proud to share that The Pines Wind Farm has now delivered $100,000 in funding to grassroots projects across the Central West, backing local ideas that are making a real difference.

From bringing netball back to Oberon, to creating a bike track for young children to learn road safety, restoring historic community spaces, and connecting generations through art, the Early Community Sponsorship Program is supporting practical, community-led ideas that are improving everyday life.

This latest round supports:
- Arts Outwest
- Black Springs Community Association Inc.
- Galloping Gumnut Mobile Children's Services Van Inc.
- Oberon Netball Club
- Oberon Showground Land Manager
- St. Aidans Village Church

Since launching in August 2024, the program has funded 24 community-led initiatives across the Oberon and Bathurst LGAs, with more to come.

We’ve had some questions about how our Affordable Housing Project is funded.

Both the wind farm and the housing are funded by the project developers — not by government or taxpayers.

The charitable donation to support the subsidised housing forms part of the project’s construction cost. A portion of the cost is also offset by savings from a reduced need for temporary workforce accommodation.

It’s a model designed to deliver real, local benefits alongside the project itself.

As always, we welcome your questions — feel free to ask below.

We’ve seen a lot of interest in our Affordable Housing Project - and some thoughtful, real questions from the community.

Around fifty homes will be built in Oberon, first used to house a portion of the construction workers at the wind farm, before transitioning to permanent affordable housing for people like seniors and single-parent families.
