Situated on the Swan River foreshore alongside Optus Stadium, the Sensory Playground is the centrepiece for children’s activities. The area required a facelift and resurfacing to improve the general aesthetics and to ensure there was safe, slip resistant playing surfaces.
Maintenance Managers for the precinct, BGIS, engaged Antiskid Industries to provide the solution due to their long history of assisting in all aspects of internal and external surfacing within the precinct. Antiskid’s expert staff liaised closely with the designers and the managers to provide a solution that was not only economical and ensured optimum safety for users but that was also aesthetically pleasing, dramatic and presented a point of focus for the entire area.

Residential Apartments – Walkways Refurbishment
Surface Repairs and Rectification. Excellent colour retention. Low maintenance. Visually dynamic, decorative bonded aggregate surfacing.
Project Brief: The balconies and walkways outside these apartments in the Southern Suburbs of Perth residential block were badly failing and dangerous due to issues with the concrete and lack of appropriate drainage. The areas were also unsightly and a slip hazard. Antiskid were engaged to provide an appropriate solution which needed to be aesthetically pleasing, long lasting, easily maintainable and providing long term slip resistant qualities. The window for works was necessarily short due to the constant requirement for access via the stairs and the walkways.
Solution: Due to the uncertain history of previous works it was recommended to remove the entire failing substrate to determine the extent of any underlying issues. The Antiskid team did this working around noise restrictions to minimise disruption. The team then undertook concrete repairs to ensure an optimal substrate and to ensure correct levels and functionality. The surface was then ground down to create an appropriate bond surface and was primed prior to the application of Omnigrip Deco in the client approved colour. The final step was the application of a Polyurethane sealer to provide Ultra-Violet resistance as well as assisting with ongoing maintenance and cleanliness.

Antiskid Industries liaised and consulted extensively with the various stakeholders to ensure that the project was completed in line with the residents’ expectations. An outstanding result for all concerned with long term beauty and minimal disruption.

Great Northern Highway/Stock Rd Intersection
Safer Colour Delineation with high skid resistance in all weathers. Reducing Braking Distance, Designed to Enhance, Protect and Improve Road Safety
The City of Swan was undertaking a major upgrade of Stock Rd, Bullsbrook to improve connectivity in the area and create a 4.5km carriageway between Tonkin Highway and Great Northern Highway. The upgrade provides vital access allowing trucks to bypass Bullsbrook townsite and facilitate the development of industrial zoned land. Part of the improved road safety aspect was appropriate signage and line markings while ensuring that the road was aesthetically attractive and providing good slip resistance and demarcation.
Antiskid’s expert staff liaised closely with the contractors to provide a solution.

State Football Centre

The new State Football Centre viewing area required a surface commensurate with the quality of the rest of the build that was safe in all conditions. The concrete surface presented a slip risk, particularly in wet weather. And it was distinctly lacking in aesthetic appeal. There was a need to ensure the entire area delivered a safe and distinct experience for all users.
Antiskid’s expert staff liaised closely with the building contractor to provide a solution that not only was safe and aesthetically appealing but was quick to install.
Antiskid Industries recommended installing the OMNIGRIP Deco Surfacing System. OMNIGRIP Deco is not only economical and ensures optimum safety for users but is also aesthetically pleasing, and in harmony with the surrounding environment.
The surface was ground down to create an appropriate bond surface and was primed prior to the application of Omnigrip Deco in the client approved colour. The final step was the application of a Polyurethane sealer to provide Ultra-Violet resistance as well as assisting with ongoing maintenance and cleanliness.
This solution is low maintenance and will continue to be a dynamic feature for many years to come with minimal maintenance requirements.
