Winter is one of the harder times for systems as the Sun is playing peek-a-boo and somehow winning. Solar isn’t charging batteries as much as we want, and batteries aren’t covering our usages when we get home - and certainly not in the morning -, so how can we get by?

2 options;

More solar - yes, I know, budgets, roof spaces and equipment can limit this. So, a better option may be “3 Free Plans” (try say that quickly!)

“3 Free Plans” are being offered by more and more providers for 3 hours (usually 11am-2pm) of free energy each day to use as you wish. Some providers may even be able to offer "4 Free Plans".

This was introduced because the grid has become overloaded during the middle of the day when large amounts of excess solar are being exported from homes.
They have tried limiting exports (Flexible exports scheme) but it is still not enough. So why not just give it away?

AGL, GloBird and OVO are currently offering this plan. Within 4-10 business days of selecting the plan, everything will be setup to send energy to your home between ~11am-2pm. If you are struggling to charge your battery, we recommend setting up a schedule in your app (if possible) to force charge your battery during this time. Any home loads can be covered by what solar you are producing and the rest by this free energy.

*As with anything there can be a cost - other time’s rates can be more expensive. Please review carefully to see what is best for you*

GoodWe has stepped confidently into the stacked-battery market with its new ESA All-in-One system.
Like Sigenergy, it uses modular 5 kWh and 8 kWh battery blocks, with the inverter included as its own unit within the stack—clean, compact, and easy to expand.

Unlike Sigen, this system doesn’t need a separate gateway for backup. Partial or whole-home backup is built-in (much like Sungrow), offering strong safety features and reliable blackout protection - no extras needed.

This battery suits Single phase homes (3 phase coming soon) and AC Coupled solutions.

GoodWe has also released a sleek new app interface, giving homeowners clearer monitoring, smoother controls, and a much more modern user experience.

While less AI integration than Sigen, this Goodwe product is affordable, expandable and backed by 15+ years in the industry.

This might get confusing so buckle up.

As of this Monday 15th December, we got word that a further $5 billion has been put towards the current battery rebate but it will be restructured to incentivise smaller batteries instead.

Previously, the rebate dropped yearly by around 10%. Now, the rebate will be gradually decreasing every 6 months, set to last until the end of 2030.

Included in the decrease, they have put limits on the amount claimable based on battery size.

For batteries between 5-14 kWh 100% of the rebate amount is claimable.

Between 14-28 kWh 60% is claimable,

and for 28-50 kWh only 15% is claimable.

These changes will come into effect from May 1st 2026, so these next 4 months will be the last time 100% of the rebate is claimable for batteries larger than 14kWh.

>Example:

The available rebate for a Goodwe 25kWh Battery in January 2026 would be $7,770.

Come May 1st 2026 the rebate drops and the 60% comes in, putting the amount claimable at only $5,180. By Jan 2027 it would be $4,329 until only $1,591 by 2030.

As of now we’re booking up into March with spots filling quickly. Note; the rebate is only claimable once installed. So, if you are interested in a quote, or even just a bills assessment, reach out now!

*Our Process*
Once you reach out to TFA Solar for a quote, what should you expect? - Here's a walk through from Quoting to installation (and after)!

1. Reach out – Call, email, or come see us at a market.
2. Quote & Chat – Jason or Paul will discuss your setup and needs on the phone and send a detailed quote.
3. Site Visit – We check inverter/battery placement, panel fitment, and answer all your questions (no same-day sign-ups).
4. Approval & Booking – Once you’re happy, sign the quote. We handle all SAPN and rebate approvals, and lock in your install date.
5. Installation Day – We’re on-site at 7:45 a.m. and usually finished by afternoon. We’ll show you the monitoring app, how it all works and answer any questions.
6. Aftercare – We monitor your system initially, help with smart meters upgrades if needed, and are always here for questions or maintenance. Reach out in 2–5 years for a clean and service to keep it running like new.
