EBS recently completed a cold‑storage loading‑dock project where EBS PT-80 telescopic dock leveller equipment was key in providing the best thermal performance, safety, and overall operating efficiency.

In cold‑chain logistics, controlling air and moisture ingress at the dock is essential. EBS telescopic levellers make this possible because they are stored behind closed dock doors, allowing the truck to dock and seal before the dock door is opened and leveller deployed.

The vehicle doors are then opened inside the climate‑controlled warehouse, protecting the cool room from warm air, humidity, and ice formation — also helping to maintain temperature within the refrigerated vehicle.

INTRODUCING the EBS DUOblade HIGH-SPEED DOOR

EBS is proud to announce a new high-speed door to complement our cold chain product offering.

The EBS DUOblade is a dual-curtain system, which aids in isolating freezer or chiller environments from warmer spaces, thus reducing convection. This door boasts a U-Value of 2.0 (W/M²K).

The design of the DUOblade door incorporates two high-speed curtains opening and closing simultaneously, forming a sealed cell. An electric hot air blower fills the void between the two curtains; when closed, these curtains form a sealed warm cell, effectively preventing any icing from occurring.

The DUOblade features a GfA (German made) motor and controller, with opening speeds of up to 2.0 meters per second. This operating speed is crucial for reducing energy loss and guarantees that the door functions effectively in relation to incoming traffic, thereby ensuring high productivity and lowering the risk of damage from MHE and forklifts.

Should an incident or impact occur which causes the door curtains to release from the tracks, they will automatically re-feed back into place (self-repair) with the next cycle, minimizing downtime and usually not requiring a call-out from a technician.

The EBS DUOblade dual curtain system aids in isolating freezer or chiller environments from warmer spaces, thus reducing convection. TELESCOPIC DOCK LEVELLERS - The Economics and Safety Benefits

Conventional swing/hinged-lip dock levellers often don’t suit every load-in or load-out situation. Trucks and trailers are usually loaded right to the back doors, meaning the swing lip dock leveller can’t engage, requiring the first row of goods to be unloaded by hand before a forklift can be used. This slows down productivity and creates health and safety issues, with gaps between the warehouse and the truck posing slip and fall hazards. Manual handling of heavy packages also increases injury risk.

Telescopic dock levellers provide infinite end load access with precise lip extension, safely bridging the gap for forklift access and preventing damage to cargo or forklifts. They eliminate the risk of forklifts getting stuck and create safer working conditions.

Compared to vertically stored dock levellers, horizontal dock levellers stored flush with the floor improve warehouse visibility, which increases safety for cross-traffic operations, and increases valuable floor space for staging areas.
