We are pleased to highlight new results from QuantumBasel and the FHNW School of Life Sciences. demonstrating how today's quantum hardware can tackle classically hard problems in NMR spectroscopy.

NMR is a foundational tool in chemistry and life sciences, underpinning research in materials design and drug discovery. However, classical simulation of 1D NMR spectra faces severe scalability limits beyond 32-spin systems, even with tensor network methods.

In this newly published paper, the authors successfully simulate NMR spectra for molecules up to 34 spins on both IBM Quantum superconducting and lonQ trapped-ion quantum systems. By applying Q-CTRL's error suppression and mitigation pipeline, the team dramatically reduced the impact of quantum noise, enabling deep, large-scale circuit ex*****on with up to a 22X improvement in accuracy.

This work shows how combining advanced quantum hardware with Fire Opal performance management software can unlock new experimental capabilities, bringing NMR spectroscopy a meaningful step closer to practical quantum utility.
