After an incredible six-week bikepacking adventure through France, I’m back on Aussie soil and the doors at Ge**er Fabrication are officially back open! 🔥

Bringing this Haybuster tub grinder back to life.

This project started out as what looked to be a fairly straightforward floor replacement. But as is often the case with older machinery, once the cutting began, the true extent of the rust became apparent.

The original floor framework was beyond repair, so everything had to come out. Days were spent removing heavy rust scale, exposing clean steel, treating the remaining structure and rebuilding the machine from the ground up.

Using upgraded 100 PFC and 100 × 75 × 5 angle, a completely new floor support framework was fabricated before installing a new 4 mm floor. Because the original access hatch had deteriorated beyond recognition, a new one was designed and fabricated from scratch using a combination of ingenuity and reference photos.

The repairs didn’t stop there. Additional structural repairs were completed throughout the machine, including rebuilding rusted framework at the front of the grinder, repairing the unloading elevator mounting crossmember and replacing the heavily corroded lower section around the bowl.

To finish the job, the customer supplied new unloading augers, auger tray, conveyor belt and hammer mill hammers, before the machine received a fresh coat of paint ready to head back into service.

It’s always satisfying taking a machine that looked well past its best and giving it a new lease on life.

After a busy year in the workshop, it’s time for a little adventure!

From 30 August to 11 October, Ge**er Fabrication will be taking a short break while I head overseas for a six-week bikepacking adventure through France.

During this time the workshop will be closed, so I won’t be taking on fabrication work or responding to enquiries as quickly as usual.

To all of my customers—thank you for your continued support. Running a small business wouldn’t be possible without you, and I genuinely appreciate every job, recommendation and conversation along the way.

I’m looking forward to coming back refreshed, inspired and ready to get back into the workshop from 12 October.

This arch was built as a one-off design as part of our research and development into expanding our garden product range, so this exact piece is currently the only one available.

Built strong using 100% galvanised steel materials, designed to handle Australian outdoor conditions and create the perfect frame for climbing plants, vines, roses and feature garden entrances.

A couple of fresh sign frame installs for Bendigo Bank Lowood-Fernvale 👌

We recently fabricated and installed these custom sign frames at the Lowood RSL and Glamorgan Vale Hall. Built tough using galvanised steel to handle the Queensland weather and give a clean, long-lasting finish.

Not every fabrication job has to be flashy — sometimes it’s about solid, tidy work that’ll stand the test of time.

Out with the rust, in with the good stuff 🔧

This jet ski trailer came in with cross members that were completely rusted out—well past saving.
Cut them out, fabricated new replacements, and welded everything back in to get it solid and ready for the water again.

Simple job on the surface, but it’s the kind of work that keeps gear safe, reliable, and doing what it’s meant to do.

If you’ve got equipment that’s seen better days, there’s usually a way to bring it back 💪

Another one installed and looking right at home 👌

This custom garden arbour was built in two sections for easy transport and assembled on-site, making it a perfect solution for larger feature pieces like this.

Now it’s sitting proud over a freshly paved area, creating a quiet little spot to kick back, enjoy the garden, and watch it all grow in over time 🌿

Built from Australian galvanised steel — made to last, not replace in a couple of years.
