Introducing our Keynote Speaker for Space for Opportunity: Women in Space!🚀

Meet Kristen Raby ✨: FIEAust EngExec GAICD, Director Airborne Solutions and Defence Business Development at Leidos Australia & Chair of the Board of Directors at Aviation Aerospace Australia.

Kristen Raby brings more than 30 years’ experience across aviation, aerospace and defence, with senior leadership roles spanning business development, engineering, program delivery and industry collaboration. She brings a plethora of experience as a Chartered Professional Engineer, Fixed Wing Flight Test Engineer, and former Royal Canadian Air Force Aerospace Engineering Officer. Kristen has also supported major defence aviation programs in Australia and internationally, including flight test, sustainment and acquisition activities. She is a strong advocate for Australia’s aerospace and defence sectors and contributes to industry advisory boards at RMIT and Monash University.

T-minus 4 weeks. 🚀

Project Meridian is entering its final stretch before we head to White Cliffs, NSW for AURC 2026.

Four weeks out means four weeks of final integration, testing, and prepping our SRAD hybrid rocket for the 10,000 ft category - every subsystem built and tested by the team, right down to the engine.

Meet our Allyship panellists for Space for Opportunity: Women in Space!🚀

How can we best support and foster an inclusive environment within STEM? Joining us for our Allyship Panel are three incredible Student and Staff within the STEM community.

✨ Jared Landau: Current Monash student and former CEO of Monash Nova Rover. Astrophysics research honours student with a strong interest in space, who has helped lead Nova Rover through its growth as a major Australian space engineering team.
✨ Katherine Grigouriou: Aerospace engineering academic and researcher at Monash University, specialising in composite structures and environmental durability. She is a committed advocate for equity and inclusion in engineering, leading initiatives that support women, regional students and the next generation of engineers.
✨ Yan Wong: Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering and Course Director for Biomedical Engineering at Monash University. He also co-leads the Monash Vision Group and Neurobionics Laboratory.

Together, they’ll share their experiences, the lessons they’ve learned along the way, and practical advice for everyone within the space, and more broadly STEM community.

Last week we had incredible day at MacRobertson Girls' High School for the ICT Expo. Monash High Powered Rocketry had the amazing opportunity to showcase our team's goals and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

The curiosity and enthusiasm from the students was truly inspiring! Through Women In HPR (WMHPR), we're committed to motivating the STEM women of tomorrow and showing them what's possible in aerospace and engineering.⚙️

Meet our Student & Emerging Talent panellists for Space for Opportunity: Women in Space!🚀

What does the journey from university into Australia’s space and aerospace industry actually look like? Joining us for our Student & Emerging Talent Panel are three women at different points in that journey:

✨ Komal Gupta: Final-year Aerospace Engineering student, former President of MAMEC and former Jetstar Airways intern, passionate about encouraging young women into STEM.
✨ Karina Finlayson: Quality Engineer at Boeing Aerostructures Australia and Monash High Powered Rocketry alumna, with a strong commitment to diversity and inspiring the next generation of aerospace professionals.
✨ Chloe Chang: Space engineer at Lunar Outpost Oceania, Forbes 30 Under 30 and Herald Sun 25 Under 25, former Monash Nova Rover Team Lead and an advocate for challenging stereotypes of what an engineer can look like.

Together, they’ll share their experiences, the lessons they’ve learned along the way, and practical advice for students and young women looking to build careers across space and aerospace.

Earlier this month, Monash HPR was invited by the Monash Engineering Students' Society (MESS) to showcase at their Industry Night. ⚙️

It was a wonderful experience being able to share MHPR's achievements and projects with other engineering students, demonstrating how engineering is taken out of the classroom and applied to high-powered rocketry! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about the team, it was a pleasure sharing our passion with you! 🚀

In light of Science Week, we’re introducing our latest payload, set to fly aboard Project Meridian at AURC 2026. 🌟

Developed by our Payload team, Project OBSIDIAN (Observing Brain Substitutes In Dynamic and Increased Acceleration N-vironments) investigates how changes in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) viscosity affect brain movement and vibration transmission during high-G rocket flight conditions. 🧠

Over the past few months, the project has evolved from an initial CAD concept into a payload that is now nearing completion, with manufacturing almost finished and final assembly still underway. We’re excited to see OBSIDIAN take flight aboard Project Meridian and contribute meaningful data to neuroscience research on how CSF viscosity influences brain movement and vibration under high-G conditions. 🚀

Our propulsion recruits recently completed their Critical Design Review (CDR) for Night Fury, MHPR’s newest engine.

The review gave recruits the opportunity to present and validate their designs across key propulsion systems, including structural components, fittings, and system-level integration. This milestone represents more than just a design review. It reflects the hard work, technical growth, and collaboration of our newest propulsion members as they continue building the skills required to contribute to high-powered rocketry.

With the CDR now complete, the team will be moving into the manufacturing phase, bringing Night Fury one step closer to becoming a reality.

A huge congratulations to the recruits on reaching this exciting milestone.

Last weekend, Monash HPR had the incredible opportunity to showcase our team to thousands of prospective parents and students at Monash University Open Day!
We were able to share the world of high-powered rocketry, how the team operates, our projects and the engineering behind them with people of all ages! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about our team, your support and interest are what motivates us!
Additionally, for the first time, we had a dedicated Women in HPR (WHPR) stall, engaging and inspiring prospective non-male students to pursue STEM.
Thank you to and for the opportunity and platform to share our passion with the community!
