As semester one draws to a close, we wish everyone the best of luck with their upcoming final exams!

Our team will be taking a short break to focus on our own final assessments before we return to our roaring rocketry 🚀

Project Meridian is pretty in pink! 🩷

Check out the finer details of Project Meridian’s airframe one that stands out in a vibrant pink, accented with decals that reflect the themes of navigation, direction and the cosmos. 🧭🌠

This is the airframe that will be used during our continued testing of the project as we continue to refine Project Meridian ahead of AURC later this year!

Keep an eye on our socials to watch this beautiful livery take to the skies!🚀

We are excited to unveil Project Meridian’s airframe one livery! 🩷

Brought to life by our Business team, this vibrant livery cements the fundamental identity of Project Meridian. It draws inspiration from the project’s main themes of direction and navigation, which are embodied through the use of the compass motif. 🧭

We thank our Business team for their hours of meticulous work, making sure every detail is perfect down to the millimetre!

We cannot wait to see Project Meridian stand out in the skies! 🚀

Monash HPR recently had the incredible opportunity to meet - 2026 Australian of the Year, and the first astronaut to represent Australia 👩‍🚀

It was an inspiring experience to share our projects and hear insights from Katherine’s own journey in the space industry. Hearing her stories and seeing the impact she has made to people around the country continues to motivate our team to push our own boundaries in engineering and innovation. Katherine also signed our rocket nozzle from our SRAD Hybrid Engine, Solaris Mk III ✨

A huge thank you to Katherine for taking the time to hear about our work, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for Australian space exploration!

Our Safety section is the backbone that keeps MHPR moving forward 🦺

They conduct risk assessments, enforce PPE standards, and run pre-build safety briefings. They also maintain our workshop protocols and ensure every member knows how to handle materials like composites, resins and power tools safely ⚠️

Beyond day-to-day operations, our Safety team leads formal risk assessments and risk management planning across all projects. From hazard analysis and procedure reviews 📃 to implementing control measures and ensuring compliance  ⏱️, they work closely with sub teams to identify and mitigate risks early, keeping both our people and our projects protected.

Because a rocket 🚀is only as successful when the team is safe 👨‍🚀

Ever wondered what goes on in a day for our Dynamics section? 💻

Dynamics plays a crucial role in simulating the behaviour of the rocket, so that we know how it will perform when we launch it. Recently, they have been attending flightlines for Project Meridian to collect data in preparation for our first launch.

Recently, the Women In Monash High Powered Rocketry (WMHPR) committee, in collaboration with Monash Engineering Girls (MEG) hosted a hands on STEM workshop day for year 11-12 students interested in space and science! 🌍🧑‍🚀Including a talk from former deputy director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory - Lieutenant General Larry D. James.

The students met an exceptional panel of ambitious young women from our team, who delivered hands-on rocketry workshops where students got to build and launch their own bottle rockets🚀, and participate in our aerospace and HPR themed scavenger hunt.🔍 Followed by a networking session with amazing alumni and academics.🙌

A huge thank you to all our incredible guests, including two of our very own MHPR alumni - Karina Finlayson and Imogenes Jones, who studied aerospace engineering at Monash and are now thriving in the industry. Along with Dr Katherine Grigoriou, PhD students Mariana Campelo and Himasha Ekanayake.💫

Rocketry and aerospace have historically narrow demographics, but walking these students through our operations proves that the barrier to entry is just a matter of exposure.💪💪

We look forward to seeing some of you in the Makerspace in a few years.🔨

One more before launch!

Ahead of Project Meridian’s first test launch in Serpentine, our members undertook another practice flightline, alongside running practice pad and launch operations.

To replicate the conditions of the launch weekend, the order of this flightline differed from previous ones, this time starting with the assembly of the payload and airbrake systems followed by the rest of the rocket.

These practice flightlines play a crucial role in our team’s preparation, allowing our members to simulate test launches and the competition weekend, ensuring we operate like a well-oiled machine on launch day. 🚀

We thank our team members for their continuous hard work and support on Project Meridian to ensure this project is a success!💫
