🔧 NOW HIRING — Rubber Lining Trainee | GNH Engineering, Cloncurry

Looking for a hands-on career in mining and heavy industry? No experience needed — we'll train you.

Mining equipment is subjected to extreme conditions — abrasive slurry, corrosive chemicals, and thousands of tonnes of material every day. Rubber lining is what protects that equipment and keeps it operating for years.

WHAT IS RUBBER LINING
Inside every slurry transfer pipe, hopper, chute, and vessel on a mine site, there's a layer of rubber bonded to the steel that protects it from wear and corrosion. That layer is what keeps critical equipment running for years instead of weeks and ensures reliable operations for our mining clients. Sheets of rubber are measured and marked out against technical drawings, then carefully cut to shape using hand knives and mechanical cutters. The steel surface is prepared and coated with a cold-bond adhesive system before the rubber is laid. Joints need to be neat, overlaps precise, and the finished product looking great. Attention to detail isn't optional, it's everything.

📋 WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
▸ Relining and refurbishing worn components received directly from mine sites
▸ Lining newly fabricated steelwork
▸ Projects ranging from single pipe replacements through to large piping packages, hoppers, and chutes
▸ Excellent variety and exposure across different types of work

📈 WHY THIS IS A STRONG CAREER MOVE
Rubber lining is not a formally recognised trade, however it is one of the most in-demand skills in heavy industry and mining across Australia. Qualified rubber liners are difficult to find, making this skill set highly sought after wherever mining operates in this country.
GNH has a steady pipeline of work across maintenance, relines, and new fabrication — this is a long-term opportunity, not a short-term position.

🎓 WHAT'S ON OFFER
▸ Full on-the-job training — no prior experience required
▸ Opportunity to cross-train into industrial coatings (abrasive blasting and industrial painting)
▸ A pathway to a serious and niche skill set within the industry
▸ A Cloncurry based workshop role where you are home every night, no working away from home or site work

✅ WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
▸ Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
▸ Reasonable math skills
▸ No formal qualifications or tickets required
▸ Open to school leavers through to mature-age candidates
