An additional 500m section of the Urunga Boardwalk has recently been opened for the community to enjoy, including two new breakout areas. Works on the south arm section are continuing, while fabrication for the final stage is now underway.

GeoLINK is proud to have supported this important project through the preparation of the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) and specialist environmental and cultural heritage assessments, helping to protect the unique surrounding environment while delivering this valued community asset.

Last week, our Directors attended an industry seminar hosted by the Planning Institute of Australia in Armidale. The session focused on Renewable Energy Zones and explored how planning plays a critical role in balancing infrastructure, environmental outcomes and community needs.

We continue to support two of NSW’s major road projects as Environmental Representative for the Coffs Harbour Bypass and Newcastle Inner City Bypass.

With key milestones achieved, the Coffs Harbour Bypass is progressing toward a late 2026 opening, while the final Rankin Park to Jesmond section of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass is also on track for completion later this year.

Across both projects, our involvement focuses on providing environmental oversight, helping to manage risks and maintaining compliance throughout construction.

Yesterday our Coffs Harbour office teamed up with Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare to support their ongoing efforts to restore the natural habitat at Boambee Headland, following the damage caused by the 2021 hailstorm and flooding. With clear skies and a beautiful autumn day setting the scene, the team rolled up their sleeves to help re-establish native foliage and contribute to the long-term recovery of this important coastal area.

Even better, a few family members joined in, making it a great day out with a shared purpose. Being hands-on is always rewarding and helps support the local community to revitalise the space.

Our Environmental Scientist, Jess, recently attended an On-site Wastewater Management Training Course. It was a valuable opportunity to deepen knowledge across the full wastewater process, from planning and design through to installation, while connecting with both new and experienced industry professionals.

A highlight was learning directly from trainers involved in developing the Australian Standards and guidelines used across the industry. This means our clients benefit from up-to-date, practical knowledge and greater confidence that their projects are being guided by current best practice.
