Hi everyone

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our Managing Director, Greg Phipps.

Greg passed late last year after a long battle with MND. We delayed posting this news out of respect for his family.

The condolences have come from far and wide. A hallmark of the impact Greg had on those who knew him & the industry he dedicated his life to. We thank you sincerely for all the love and support we have received.

Greg's passion for Cypress was powered by his love of community. Like no other, Greg’s authentic, selfless drive for a regenerative future, affordable housing & encouraging Cypress back into the construction industry in Australia. A humble man with an expansive vision…

Whilst the void that Greg's passing leaves is impossible to fill for Eco Cottages, we are endeavouring to source new management. We are currently doing everything we can to carry on his legacy in some way, shape or form.

But our gratitude for his life’s work is immense & the ripples of his inspiration are unimaginable...

We have been working with Dean on a project where he wanted to build a retreat on a property off the grid.
When building our cottages there is not much difference in terms of design for an off the grid ideal. Although he wanted a 12volt system to power up some circuit's as a separate power supply. Because the renewable SPS stand-alone system was built in another part of the property we did not have solar panels on the roof of the cottages, so we didn't have to factor it in the design.
As we have now seen the end result of a 40 acre property with cottages, workshops and some serious infrastructure it's easy to forget this is a SPS stand-alone renewable energy system. Thanks Dean & the team!

Eco Cottages is asking for support for the proposed development of: sustainable, affordable, social, community housing in the Noosa Shire because affordable housing and rental availability in the Noosa Shire is in serious and dangerous "crisis" as there are no other land opportunities currently available in a more appropriate zone that are suitable and available for the installation of "high-quality" modular homes with no step access manufactured using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). The development will be maintained in "perpetuity" All dwellings will “only” be leased or sold to not-for-profit community housing providers such as St Vincent De Paul Society, Salvation Army, Anglican Church and Coast2Bay.
