Since starting Taylormade Building Solutions in June 2023, we’ve travelled all over the place, building, renovating, extending and transforming homes along the way! 🏡

It’s pretty cool to look back and see just how far the Taylormade crew has travelled over the past 3 years. From quick jobs to full builds, every pin on the map represents a client who trusted us with their home. 🩵

And we’re definitely not finished adding pins yet! 📍

🏡 TRANMERE — COMPLETE! ✨

And that’s a wrap on our Tranmere renovation! 🙌🏻

Woohoo! Well done Team, you’ve done a fab job bringing this one together from start to finish. 👏🏻

This transformation included:

🔨 A brand new deck
🚿 Renovated ensuite
🥫 New walk-in pantry
🧺 New laundry
🛁 New bathroom

It’s always a good feeling handing a finished project back over to our clients to enjoy.

Featuring yours truly ~ Katie 👋🏻

A little bit about me…

I’m 33 🫣, live in Boomer Bay and I’m married with two kiddos 10 & 7 keeping us on our toes.

We have a dog, a cat ,which is something I NEVER thought I’d own 😂 and three horses. 🐴

I’m huge on family, and on the friends who become family. ❤️ I love camping, riding my quad, riding my horse, exploring Australia with my family and just loving my people with everything I have.

I honestly never thought I’d end up doing a job like this. I always thought I’d drive a school bus 😂🚌
Which I love. The kids make my day every day.

But I absolutely love what I do here at Taylormade. It fits perfectly around my school bus runs, gives me the same hours and holidays as my kids, and somewhere along the way I discovered that I actually really enjoy this whole social media and marketing gig!

I’ve learnt SO much along the way, and I’m still learning every day.

And I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without my Taylormade crew. 🩵

And if you ever see me running around like a headless chook, there’s a fair chance I am. 😂🐔

Between running a house and family, driving a school bus, doing the social media and marketing for Taylormade AND currently planning BOTH of my sisters’ hens days… there are approximately 472 tabs open in my brain at any given time. 😵‍💫😂

Wouldn’t have it any other way though! ❤️

So yep… that’s me 💁🏼‍♀️ the crazy lady 😂

✔️ Deck wall frames built, ready for roof sheets and cladding
✔️ Carport framed up, ready for roof sheets

Did you know timber is constantly moving? 🪵

Even once it’s part of your home, timber isn’t a completely “still” material.

Timber naturally absorbs and releases moisture depending on the conditions around it, which can cause it to expand, shrink, twist or warp slightly over time.

That’s why things like moisture levels, correct storage, installation methods and allowing for movement are so important during a build. 🔨

It can also explain some of those little changes you might notice around your home as the seasons change, like a door becoming a little tighter 💪🏼

🔨FEATURE FRIDAY — FEATURING KAITLIN 🔨

So, I was going to get Loren to ask me a question for Feature Friday… but we have enough trouble deciding who’s booking tea, what time we’re eating and where we’re getting it from 😂

So instead, I thought I’d show you my most recent semi fail… because we all have them sometimes, don’t we? 🤦🏼‍♀️

I had this great idea to get a timelapse of the boys demolishing our newest Dunalley job.

Only problem? I was driving the school bus when they were starting, so I had to send Loren down to set it up for me. 🚌

Mistake #1: Trusting Loren with my very professional filming operation 😂 “you need to check it I’m worried”

Mistake #2: Forgetting to check there was an SD card in the camera. There wasn’t. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Cue a quick trip to Shell Dunalley to grab one!

Mistake #3: Not having a power bank hooked up… so naturally, the battery went flat halfway through. 🤦🏼‍♀️

At this point I was convinced my first attempt at a proper timelapse was going to be an epic fail.

BUTTTT… turns out I actually got way more footage than I thought, and it didn’t turn out half bad! 🙌🏼

So here it is my very first timelapse! 📹

I’m actually pretty proud of myself. 😂
Never done one before, learnt a few things along the way, and next time I’ll remember the SD card AND the power bank.

It’s only up from here! 🧗🏼‍♀️😂

LET’S TALK WATERPROOFING!

It might not be the most exciting part of a renovation, but it’s definitely one of the most important!

Waterproofing creates a protective barrier beneath your tiles in wet areas like bathrooms, showers and laundries, helping stop water from getting where it shouldn’t.

And when waterproofing isn’t done properly? 👀
You could be looking at leaks, mould, damaged flooring, rotten timber and some pretty expensive repairs down the track. 💸

When it comes to wet areas, what’s under the tiles is just as important as what you can see on top!
