PUBLIC NOTICE
We would like to advise the people of Cowell not to be alarmed this Friday & Saturday 8-9th May, you may see some activity with some extra Rescue Vessels & Police. This is a multi agency Search & Rescue Exercise. On the water Saturday morning training & working together to help keep our boating communities safer.

On Saturday night at about 11.30pm we were notified of a flare sighting North/East of Lucky Bay.
I want to let people know what happens when this report comes in..Police are notified, in this case Whyalla Police & Police Water Operations in Adelaide. Cowell Sea Rescue are tasked to search the area, other emergency services are also notified.
I have seen this many times over a 25+ years of volunteering. Please note setting flares off is not only illegal but dangerous to you and or other people. I understand 5 minutes of fun after a few refreshments can seem harmless but understand what happens if you set flares off near the water.
Luckily this time no person's needed help.
Flares are used for DISTRESS only.

Hi All,
It's that time of year again so we are inviting you to come down to the boat ramp next to the ticket box (even a blind person will see us) 🤣 Come grab a feed between 8am to 4pm tomorrow, (Saturday 4th April). Chat to us about what Volunteer Marine Rescue are about. New members welcome. We are trying to raise funds to invest in a small training vessel so if you can spare a donation it would be greatly appreciated.
