Getting a local farmer back to carting grain🌾

Shane Troth, a farmer from Caragabal, NSW, brought his trailer to Ellis & Sons for a new roll-over tarp system ahead of harvest.

His existing system had seen plenty of use, so we measured up his trailer and fitted a new roll-over tarp and hardware to help keep his loads protected from the elements.

With a new system fitted, Shane is ready to get on with the job and keep his grain and produce protected throughout the season.

💦 How We Prevent Leaking to Make Your Roll-Top Tarp Last Longer 🚛

When you get a roll-over tarp fitted to your bin, you want to be assured it is fully waterproof and prevents moisture from getting into your load.

After all, this is the whole point in choosing a roll-over tarp over other types of tarp systems!

However, if the tarp doesn’t seal correctly against the pelmets at the front of the bin, moisture can find its way in while you’re travelling.

💡That’s why we manufacture our roll-over tarps with fully welded webbing reinforcement at both the front and rear - welded, not stitched. This helps maintain a more secure, watertight seal while providing additional reinforcement where it matters most. 💪

🌾 Loading Grain? Check These 4 Things First.

Are you carting grain this harvest? 🌾

With plenty of loads going through the tipper, your roll-over tarp is getting plenty of use too. Here are a few things worth keeping an eye on as harvest rolls on:

1. Tarp fabric
Keep an eye out for new tears, cuts or worn areas. Catching them early, before they become a bigger problem and potentially stop you operating, is a good idea.

2. Ropes & rubbers
Regular opening and closing can put wear on these components. If something is looking worn or damaged, it's worth getting it sorted before it becomes a bigger issue.

3. The roll-over system
Pay attention to how your tarp operates. If it starts becoming harder to operate than usual, it's worth taking a closer look.

4. Damage around loading
With loaders working quickly during harvest, keep an eye out for any accidental damage to the tarp or hardware.

A quick check as you go can help you spot small issues before they interrupt a busy day of carting. ✔️
