Meet Robert Tombolato, an Associate Mechanical Engineer at WRAP Engineering with over 45 years of experience in the building services industry. We had the opportunity to conduct a Q&A session with him:

Q: How has the industry changed since you started?

A: The shift from voluntary requirements to mandatory through the building code has been a major change. It has certainly made the industry better performing and safer.

Q: What still keeps you going and motivated?

A: Having an interest in the work you do. Like any other career pathway, you have to be self motivated.

Q: What has aged better, the first building you worked on or yourself?

A: Some of the buildings i worked on early in my career have been demolished so i guess i am faring better so far!

Q: A piece of advice for a young engineer?

A: 45 years in the industry comes down to one thing only...Knowledge is everything.

WRAP Consulting Engineering had a wonderful time volunteering with Very Special Kids to help set up their 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge. This fundraiser raised $1.2 million for seriously ill children. Very Special Kids offer a range of supports for children and families, including counselling, bereavement support, respite care and end-of-life care. They also provide a peer support network with events and fundraisers happening throughout the calendar year. These events include community fundraisers, family activities and holidays and sibling activities. This organisation is built on the belief that “all children and young people have the right to quality of life, no matter how long or short their life may be.”

Our staff were honoured to be involved with such a great cause. A very special thanks to Noah at Very Special Kids for arranging this opportunity.

WRAP Engineering's Social Club went "cliche slice-of-life" mode last weekend, with a delightful time camping together at the Boulder Brook Valley campsite. Containing a tremendous night of conveyer belt-esque cooking, campfire sing-a-longs, and great big laughs - those at WRAP truly get to remember what a family we have made.
