Andersal took part in a wonderful project to preserve a piece of Sydney’s past. Engaged by Kennards Self Storage, Andersal worked alongside International Conservation Services (ICS) to repair and strengthen the Kennards building façade, incorporating four concrete pre-cast sculptures.

The sculptures were created by artist Paul Beadle in 1954, and commissioned by the Tooheys Brewery at 606 Parramatta Rd, Petersham. The sculptures made of sand/cement depict the different stages of beer production.

The last fixed louvre panel being installed on the project in Phillip Street Sydney. It’s the 103rd panel to be lifted, stripped of it’s mild steel frames and the aluminium louvre blades re-fitted to new structural grade, powder-coated aluminium sections that replicate the previous corroding steel members.

Some 6 years in gestation and trials, etc. to finally finish a multimillion dollar project for our collaborative clients. There’s still a half dozen dog-bone cleats to be replaced on the western mullions but that’s also a few weeks away from final completion of a very complex rigging & technically challenging project.

Well done to all those that worked on the project, especially our project manager Ric, who has seen this project blossom from the start.

We are thrilled with the Australia Day announcement of our General Manager, Henk, receiving an Order of Australia.

Henk van den Heuvel (FIEAust CPEng) was recognised for service to the building industry. A leader and innovator, Henk has been General Manager of our building specialist firm since 1992. Also, ACRA board member since 2001 and past president for two terms. Thank you for your tremendous work Henk!
