Timber-Framed Homes are Built to Last 🏡

A timber-framed home isn't just built for today. When properly designed, built and maintained, it can achieve a service life of at least 50 years. And 50 years isn't an expiry date, it's a benchmark.

At Wespine, we're proud to supply the structural timber that helps form the backbone of homes across WA and Australia.

Long-term performance starts with quality building materials, supporting frames and trusses that are built to stand the test of time.

Timber stores carbon for life 🪵♻️

Timber begins storing carbon long before it reaches a construction site. As trees grow, they absorb carbon from the atmosphere and lock it within their fibre. When used in buildings, that carbon remains stored for the life of the structure.

For Australia's timber frame and truss industry, every new home built with timber represents renewable materials supporting our housing needs while contributing to a lower-carbon built environment. As demand for housing grows, it's important to consider not only how many homes we build, but what we build them from.

Let's Put Timber Back in the Conversation.
Together with WoodSolutions and FTMA Australia we're helping industry start more informed conversations about timber.

Today, on National Forestry Day, we're celebrating the people behind the timber that helps build Australian homes.

From the plantation managers and harvesting crews who grow and source our timber, to the operators, maintenance teams, logistics partners and support staff who keep our mill running, every stage of the journey relies on skilled people who take pride in what they do.

At Wespine, we're proud to process Western Australian plantation pine into timber products that help build homes, support local businesses and contribute to communities across the country. What makes that possible is a renewable resource, grown and managed with the future in mind.

Forestry is often measured in decades, not years. The trees planted today will support future generations, creating ongoing environmental, economic and social value long after they leave the ground.

National Forestry Day is a chance to reflect on the importance of responsible forestry and to acknowledge the many people working across the supply chain who help deliver sustainable timber products every day.

To everyone who contributes to our industry, thank you for the work, expertise and commitment you bring to it.

Happy National Forestry Day from all of us at Wespine. 🌲

🌱 Timber is Renewable. But what does that actually mean?

Q: What makes timber renewable?
A: It can be grown again. Structural timber comes from managed forests and plantations where trees are harvested and replanted as part of an ongoing cycle.

Q: How is timber sustainable if trees are being harvested?
A: Managed forestry is a cycle of growing, harvesting and replanting. Think farming, just with a longer growing season.

Q: Can Australia meet growing timber demand?
A: Australia has a strong plantation resource, supported by responsibly sourced imported timber to help meet demand as we build more homes.

Q: Why does it matter?
A: As Australia builds for a growing population, timber provides a structural building material from a renewable resource that also stores carbon.

Q: What's the key takeaway?
A: Timber grows back. Brick and steel doesn't.

Strong doesn't have to mean heavy.

Timber delivers proven structural performance while being lighter to handle, transport and install than many alternative building materials.

Less weight can mean greater efficiency across the supply chain, from delivery through to construction.

Together with FTMA Australia and WoodSolutions, we're putting timber back in the conversation by sharing one timber conversation starter each week.

Wespine was proud to support the Dardanup Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade with a grant to purchase a new compressor. The compressor will help the brigade maintain its appliances and equipment so volunteers are ready to respond when needed. Well done to this great local brigade and thanks to all members for their service to our community.
