We call it freedom, but it has never come without cost.

In the Northern Territory, the significance of service is deeply ingrained in our history and part of who we are.

This Anzac Day, we acknowledge and honour all who have served, and those who continue to serve our nation.

We remember those who paid the ultimate price, and we recognise the lasting impact of service on so many.

To all who have served, past and present, we thank you.

We’re delighted to see ALA Architects shortlisted in the People’s Choice category of the Australian Institute of Architects Awards for their design of the Casuarina Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

As the builder, we get to bring projects like this to life, but it all starts with the vision and creativity of the architects we work alongside.

Voting is now open, and we’d love you to join us in supporting the ALA team.

Take a moment to cast your vote here: https://www.architecture.com.au/archives/awards/casuarina-aquatic-leisure-centre

Every vote helps a local Darwin business gain national recognition and highlights the quality of design being delivered right here in the Territory.

Join our Senior Site Manager, Boyd Irving as he talks through the Lubeca Jumpform System. It’s a first for the Northern Territory and just another way we use innovation to continually build better.

The Lubeca Jumpform System is a high-performance, modular self-climbing formwork system primarily used for constructing concrete cores in high-rise buildings.

Core Features:
•Self-Climbing Mechanism: Utilises powerful hydraulic rams to lift the entire platform (including formwork and working decks) from floor to floor in a single operation.
•High Payload Capacity: The system can transport heavy loads during the climbing process, such as equipment containers and concrete placing booms.
•Unobstructed Top Deck: The design eliminates jacking masts on the top deck, providing a clear working area and protecting equipment from concrete spills or crane damage.
•Modular Design: It is adaptable to various building geometries and includes integrated stair towers, ladders, and safety screens.

•Soldiering on for veterans•

Before the sun was up this morning, a team of DCOH employees set off from RAAF Base Darwin, heading for Robertson Barracks.

Fifteen kilometres gives you time to think. About veterans, their service to this country, and why we should, in some small way, give back.

March On is a chance to say thank you, and to show veterans that we have their back. Committing to walk at least 96km over the month, the length of the Kokoda Track, March On raises much needed funds to support the veterans who struggle in their transition to civilian life. And they do. Su***de is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

For DCOH, this connection runs deeper than a single event. Alongside our financial commitment to Soldier On, we strive to create real career opportunities for veterans and their families, and support mental health programs that help people find their next chapter.

What a privilege today to be able to be part of something so meaningful.

We encourage you to reach out to the veterans in your life.

Through our partnership with Soldier On Australia we are proud to support Defence families as they navigate the unique challenges of service life.

Today, we’re sharing Sianae’s journey. After moving across several cities to support her husband’s ADF postings, Sianae connected with our team at a Soldier On workshop. Now, she’s a valued member of the Courtyard by Marriott Darwin team, where she’s found a career that offers the flexibility her family needs.

We’re honoured to have Sianae on the team and to support the incredible work Soldier On does for veterans and their families.

• Celebrating International Women’s Day •

Behind every role is a family, responsibilities and the moments that matter most. At DCOH, we recognise that people’s lives do not start and finish at the workplace.

Supporting women in construction means recognising that careers and family life are not separate. They are part of the same journey.

That’s why we extended our parental leave, giving new parents more paid time to recover, adjust and spend those irreplaceable early weeks with their child.

As HSE Advisor Stacey Cannons shares:

“Being able to take extended parental leave at DCOH meant I didn’t have to rush back. The financial support helped ease the pressure, but more than anything it gave me time to recover, settle into life with a newborn and be around close family. Those early weeks go
quickly. Being able to slow down and build those first memories together made a lasting difference.”

Supporting women in our industry means supporting the lives they lead beyond the workplace.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women making a difference across our industry, our workplaces and our communities.
