JOB DESCRIPTION: Yardsman/ Labourer.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Yardsman / Labourer to support the daily operations of our busy welding and mechanical workshop. This role involves maintaining a clean and organised yard and workshop, assisting tradesmen, handling materials and equipment, and ensuring the workplace operates safely and efficiently.
The successful applicant will be physically fit, safety focused, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and willing to assist wherever required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Yard & Workshop Duties
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workshop, yard, and storage areas
General housekeeping including sweeping, rubbish removal, spill clean-up, and bin management
Assist with loading and unloading trucks and deliveries
Move equipment, materials, trailers, and components around the workshop and yard
Prepare work areas for tradesmen and assist with workshop set-up
Wash and clean machinery, trucks, fuel tankers, trailers, and equipment
Ensure tools and equipment are returned and stored correctly
Labouring & Trade Assistance
Assist boilermakers, welders, mechanics, and trades assistants as required
Hold and position materials during fabrication and repair work
Grinding, sanding, basic preparation, and other manual labour tasks
Assist with mechanical servicing and repair preparation work
Operate basic workshop tools and equipment safely
Stores & Deliveries
Receive and check incoming parts and deliveries
Assist with stock control and organisation of consumables and materials
Deliver and collect parts, equipment, or materials when required
Safety & Compliance
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
Report hazards, incidents, or damaged equipment immediately
Use PPE correctly and maintain a safe work environment
Participate in toolbox meetings and safety initiatives

Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a workshop, yard, labouring, or industrial environment preferred
Forklift licence desirable (or willingness to obtain)
Current driver’s licence required
Ability to work safely and follow instructions
Good work ethic and reliable attendance
Physically fit and capable of manual handling
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Express Engineering Dubbo has an exciting new opening for a suitably qualified Welder/ Metal Fabricator in our expanding workshop.
Come join our team in one of Dubbo's longest running, family owned workshops.
You will be a supported staff member with a great opportunity to progress with ongoing training provided.
Above award wages, monthly RDO's & flexible working hours.
We do a wide variety of work from new build trailers, tippers, fuel tanker work & general repairs. We support the transport industry with our fully equipped workshop & in house repairs from fabrication to all mechanical repairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
* General Fabrication & maintenance.
* A common sense, can do approach.
* Attention to detail.
* Independent worker as well as being a team worker.
*MIG & TIG welding competent
*Aluminium welding
*Some computer knowledge is necessary.

SKILLS, EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
* Necessary boilermaker/welder qualifications
* MUST have full & permanent Australian residency.
* Physical fitness to perform necessary duties.
* Able to work to a schedule, able to meet deadlines
*Car licence
*White card - desired, but not essential
* Working with heights, confined spaces & forklift tickets - desired, but not essential.
* Basic knowledge of programs such as Mechanic Desk, MYOB - full training will be given.

These B-doubles underwent a complete refurbishment through our workshop, including full trailer servicing, running gear upgrades, brake checks, wheel alignments, axle and bearing inspections, plus a full re-spray of the barrels and chassis.

We also handled collection from auction, re-branding, and delivery, managing the job from start to finish.

Alongside the refurbishments, our team delivered new trailer builds complete with full running gear, custom paintwork and onsite delivery.

A before and after of some work completed by the team.

We refurbished this rollover tanker for a customer, re-sheeting the sidewalls, sand blasting, and giving it a fresh re-spray.

Always satisfying to see the transformation from start to finish.
