We’re proud to be restoring a remarkable heritage property at The Hill for Compton Projects — a Victorian residence with extraordinary bones that lost much of its original character during a recent modernisation. Our role is to bring that character back through timber joinery crafted with the level of detail, accuracy, and authenticity a home of this era deserves.

While the project was originally intended to be delivered alongside former HVJ staff now operating as subcontractors, their sudden withdrawal meant HVJ assumed full responsibility for the work. The upside is that it’s allowed us to elevate the standard even further.

Across the past 12 months the design has evolved significantly, but we now have a clear and definitive plan of attack. We’ve produced an extensive suite of detailed drawings that map out the replacement joinery with precision and deep respect for the building’s history. These examples offer a glimpse into the craftsmanship, planning, and design thinking driving the project.

As manufacturing progresses, we’ll be sharing photos to showcase the transformation as it unfolds.

Going through some old pics and came across some of shutters we manufactured for the stables at Cintra House Maitland a few years back.
An unusual design for their time as they are articulated by a centre bar allowing for adjustment like modern day plantation shilutters. They were built to copy the originals (or parts that were left of) including brass slotted screws.Timber species is Australian Red Cedar.
