Stevo caught up with Mick and the team at Gore Earthmoving in Goondiwindi to see how their Kobelco SK380XDLC is performing on the Goondiwindi riverbank upgrade project.
Gore Earthmoving's bread and butter is agricultural, irrigation and feedlot work, with a bit of civil and mining thrown in — and their Kobelco fleet has been earning its keep.
Mick's first Kobelco was a second-hand machine picked up in a hurry to get them out of a jam. Low hours, ran efficiently, and the cost per hour to operate was minimal. That was enough to convince them to buy their first new one — and they haven't looked back since.
On top of the SK380XDLC, the team also run an SK135 offset boom and an SK330, with hours pushing 8,500-9,000 on their older machines and still going strong. As Mick puts it, low operating costs and reliability across the board.
Being out in a remote area, fast parts backup matters too. Mick says if an order goes in early enough in the day, parts are on site the next day — keeping downtime to a minimum.
And the best news? Mick has just ordered another Kobelco SK380XDLC for the Gore Earthmoving fleet.
