THANK YOU, BERNIE SIMPSON
This week we farewelled a genuine BESS Concrete legend — Bernie Simpson. After 35 years with the company, Bernie is our longest-serving employee, and one of the original BESS crew. Over the years he’s seen the industry change and kept evolving with it — from hands-on concreting and ride-ons, through to laser screeds and everything in between.
Bernie has always backed the team. He’s put in plenty of long days and late nights over the years to make sure the job was done properly and the crew got through. His attitude, work ethic and loyalty have set the standard at BESS Concrete. Leading by example, looking after his mates, and making a real difference to the culture on site.
Some traditions are earned. The first ever “Bernie” trowel machine… a new way to recognise long serving, valued legends.
Today we honoured Bernie’s legacy unveiling the new BESS trowel machine named in his honour during our end of year break up. Bernie showed us all how things should be done in every way, and we will be reminded of his worth ethic and personal character now in years to come onsite. The artwork featured on the machine is from an original painting created by Bernie incorporating his history and heritage and BESS Concrete.
