This is a much better solution than trying to fix glass to the balustrade.
The brief was: block the wind + rain, but DON'T hide the balustrade.
So we installed 4.5mm clear acrylic Perspex panels - custom measured and fixed so you still see the timber detail through it.
How is it made? It's a clear acrylic sheet, cut to size, polished edges, then fixed with stand-offs so it floats off the balustrade. Strong, lightweight, and keeps the view.
The owners are getting outdoor blinds next, so this little deck area can be fully enclosed in winter.
Would you do this over glass?
