Join us for the highly anticipated opening night of Sculptures Out Back tomorrow afternoon - Outback Queensland’s premier sculpture experience, bringing creativity, community and country together in a truly unique way.

For the second year, we’re proud to sponsor the $5,000 WestWind Energy Inquisitive Wind Prize, celebrating artworks that capture the power, movement and beauty of wind-inspired design.

The opening night is your first chance to experience an incredible collection of sculptures, connect with artists, and celebrate the role that art plays in shaping vibrant regional communities. Events like Sculptures Out Back not only showcase talent, but help our regions thrive culturally, socially and economically.

We look forward to seeing this year’s range of sculptures, so if you’re a local or travelling through, be sure to stop off.

We’re proud to have our Managing Director speaking at Australian Energy Week 2026, contributing to key discussions on accelerating project delivery across Australia’s energy transition.

Presenting on “Navigating grid connection and transmission delays to facilitate project delivery and meet energy policy settings,” Tobi will explore the need to challenge outdated grid planning frameworks, foster stronger collaboration with network operators, and rethink connection strategies beyond compliance to meaningful stakeholder engagement.

As the pace of change increases, these conversations are critical to unlocking faster, more coordinated renewable integration.

On this World Environment Day, we have the chance to reflect on the landscapes and natural environments that define our nation.

While our community may hold different views on how we get there, including how we harness renewable energy, we share a common goal: protecting the environment for future generations.

By staying connected, respectful and focused on what matters most, we can continue working towards a sustainable future together.

This National Reconciliation Week, we reflect on the role we all play in building respectful and meaningful relationships with First Nations peoples.

Our team attended events across our regions this week to mark this important time.

As we support Australia’s transition to clean energy, we recognise that participation, partnership and cultural authority must be central to the way we work. This includes strengthening our cultural understanding, building internal capability, and creating long-term opportunities for First Nations-led employment, enterprise and investment.

We are committed to continuing our reconciliation journey with intent - listening, learning and working together towards a more inclusive and shared future.

Today, we acknowledge National Sorry Day - a time to reflect on the profound impact of the Stolen Generations and honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We recognise the importance of truth-telling, listening, and continuing to learn from the past. Saying “sorry” is an ongoing commitment, understanding and meaningful action towards reconciliation.

At WestWind Energy we are committed to fostering respectful relationships, supporting Indigenous communities, and contributing to a more inclusive future.

The Hughenden Show Society Show is more than an event - it’s a cherished gathering that brings our community together. From the station to the main street, it’s a time to celebrate what makes life in the Flinders Shire so special: connection, resilience and shared pride.

We’re proud to be sponsoring this event again on the 29 and 30th May, and be sure to visit the trades expo as well as the many interactive exhibits.

We extend a heartfelt congratulations to the Hughenden Show Society for proudly continuing a 143-year tradition, and to the volunteers, community groups and sponsors who make this event possible.

Birds are better at adapting to turbines than we think 🦅

That's what two new studies at offshore wind farms found.

Separately, they showed that bird mortality from wind turbine collision is “orders of magnitude lower” than existing data has previously suggested – and that birds actively change their behaviour to avoid turbines.

One study took place in Germany and analysed more than 4 million bird movements over a period of more than 18 months. It found 99.86% of birds avoided the turbines.

Another study in Scotland recorded more than 137,000 birds during a 19-month period. It found no confirmed collisions. It also found that there was no correlation between migration intensity and collisions.

It's important to continue studying the impacts of renewable energy projects, so we can have accurate information on and best address how they impact nature.
