Hazell Bros Group

Hazell Bros Group Hazell Bros is a family-owned & operated business, with operations in TAS & QLD employing 800+ staff

Hazell Bros was founded in 1944 by brothers Donald and Rowley Hazell as a transport business operating in Southern Tasmania. In the 1950s, Hazell Bros became involved in earthmoving projects and by the 1970s a civil construction arm began. Over the next 30 years, the business continued to expand throughout Tasmania, adding two dolerite quarries, seven concrete batch plants, a commercial building b

usiness and a crane company to the portfolio. In 2010, Hazell Bros expanded into Victoria and Queensland acquiring civil construction and plant hire operations and in 2013, was awarded a five-year contract with Nyrstar Port Pirie (SA) for materials handling and dust suppression activities. Hazell Bros remains a family-owned and operated business with second-generation brothers Geoffrey, Managing Director, and Robert, Director, owning and heading up operations. Throughout its 75-year history, Hazell Bros has expanded into and contracted from various operations to meet the prevailing economic conditions, however, has held true to its early beginnings maintaining transport service and civil construction operations throughout the years. During 2014/15 the commercial building, cranes and Victorian operations have been sold or scaled back to allow a focus on our core business functions: Civil Construction; Quarries; Concrete; and Industrial and Asset Services. Our 700-strong team of employees are the mainstay of the business and their diversity provides Hazell Bros with the skills to ensure we continually add value and exceed our clients’ expectations. Backed by our training and development programs, our people show a commitment to our safety culture based on family values and initiative. With a large privately owned fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment, plus extensive quarry and product interests, Hazell Bros enjoys a longstanding reputation for reliability in providing plant and equipment solutions and the supply of quality products and materials. Continually exploring new opportunities and constantly challenging the status quo will see us remain at the forefront of our respective businesses.

Hazell Bros (Qld) is proud to announce the opening of Samford Parklands Village Green for the City of Moreton Bay

Delivered by Hazell Bros, the project has transformed the former glasshouse precinct into a vibrant community space featuring a large event lawn, landscaping, shade trees, picnic facilities, play spaces, car parking and new pedestrian connections.

A huge thank you to our project team, subcontractors and suppliers whose hard work, commitment and attention to detail brought this vision to life. From the early earthworks and stormwater infrastructure through to the landscaping, play equipment and finishing touches, the team delivered an outstanding result that everyone involved should be proud of.

Thank you also to the City of Moreton Bay for the opportunity to deliver this important community project.

The Samford Parklands Village Green project has been proudly funded by the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program ($2.28 million) in partnership with City of Moreton Bay ($3.5 million)

Hazell Bros Queensland is proud to be delivering the Tallebudgera Training Wall Remediation Project on behalf of the City of Gold Coast

This important project involves the remediation and strengthening of the existing training wall, helping to protect the coastline and surrounding infrastructure while maintaining the long-term functionality of the Tallebudgera Creek entrance.

While the location provides some of the best views on the Gold Coast, it's the hard work and dedication of our project team that continue to drive progress on site. From carefully placing armour rock to managing works in a challenging marine environment, the team is delivering quality outcomes in a truly unique setting.

As a Gold Coast-based business, we're proud to be working alongside the City of Gold Coast to help preserve and protect this iconic stretch of coastline. We'd also like to thank local residents, businesses, surfers, beachgoers and visitors for their patience and support while works continue.

Behind every award is a great team!

These photos capture some of the celebrations from the recent CCF Awards nights in Tasmania and Queensland.

While the awards recognise excellence across our industry, they're also a reflection of the people behind the work. Congratulations again to everyone involved, and thank you for the commitment, teamwork and effort you bring every day.

🏆 357 minutes. 123 swimmers. One powerful message.

Hazell Bros is incredibly proud to have supported the 357 Mission Zero Big Swim, named Community Engagement Programme of the Year at the 2026 Surf Life Saving Tasmania Awards of Excellence.

Created by 13-year-old Evie Collins, the event saw swimmers take to the water continuously for 5 hours and 57 minutes – one minute for each of the 357 people who drowned in Australian waters the previous year.

Congratulations to Evie, Ulverstone SLSC and the 123 swimmers who helped turn a powerful idea into an award-winning campaign for water safety.

Proud to support Mission Zero.

Today and tomorrow, you'll find us supporting Cancer Council's Daffodil Day at New Town Plaza in Hobart, near the Kmart entrance, from 9am to 4pm. 🌼💛
Cancer affects so many families, friends and colleagues, which is why we're proud to be helping raise funds for cancer research and support services.
If you're in the area, stop by, say hello and help make a difference. We'd love to see you there.
📍 New Town Plaza (Kmart entrance)🕘 9am-4pm | Today & Tomorrow
💛🌼

Today on Daffodil Day we honour the cancer journeys of our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, carers, loved ones and ourselves for the resilience, compassion, comfort, tears and laughs along the way.

We’re brought together by the many ways cancer has touched our lives but also by the hope we find in cancer research that’s making more lifesaving discoveries year-on-year.

For all that cancer takes, give hope this .

Ahead of the Picnic with the Planes - RFDS Cairns Base event, Hazell Bros Qld had the opportunity to tour the Royal Flying Doctor Service Brisbane Base and gain a firsthand insight into the incredible work carried out every day to support Queensland communities.

A big thank you to Kat (Partnerships Manager) and Anthony (Operations Manager) for taking the time to show our team around the facility and share the many ways that the RFDS supports people across the state.

From managing critical aeromedical logistics and flight operations, to providing medical chests, essential health care services in remote communities, and an aeromedical training facility, the scale and impact of the RFDS in Queensland is truly remarkable.

The visit also gave us the chance to step aboard one of the RFDS aircraft and learn more about the organisation's history and ongoing commitment to delivering healthcare where it's needed most.

Thank you to the entire team for the warm welcome and for the vital work you do every day.

Project Awarded in Queensland: Gregory River Crossing Bridge

We're pleased to announce that Hazell Bros has been awarded the Gregory River Crossing Bridge Construction project for Burke Shire Council

The project will deliver a new raised crossing over the Gregory River, providing safer and more reliable access between Doomadgee East Road and the township of Doomadgee, particularly during the wet season when the existing causeway can become impassable due to flooding.

The project includes the construction of a new bridge crossing, approach roadworks, earthworks, piling, bridge deck construction, culvert installation, pavement works and associated safety and revegetation works.

Located approximately 35 kilometres from Burketown and supporting access to the community, this project is about much more than infrastructure. It is about improving connectivity, resilience and access to essential services for local residents.

We look forward to working closely with the community, local businesses, Traditional Owners, stakeholders and Burke Shire Council to deliver a project that provides long-term benefits for the region.
