Most cladding materials add fuel to a fire. ETFE does the opposite.

Above around 200°C, ETFE melts and shrinks away from the affected area, opening a natural smoke vent instead of trapping heat and smoke inside enclosed areas. It's also self-extinguishing and doesn't melt and drip the way other plastics do, with very little smoke produced even under fire conditions.

That combination is a key reason ETFE gets specified in fire safety strategies for large public buildings.

Look down before you look up.

The underside of the main canopy at M6 Community Recreational Facility features custom-perforated aluminium panels, cut into a leaf and branch pattern that casts a shifting shadow across the playground as the sun moves through the day.

It's not a stock pattern, we can perforate aluminium to any custom design, so the artwork is as specific to the project as the structure itself.

There are 2 Fabritecture projects in this photo.

North Sydney Olympic Pool officially reopened its doors this month, and we're proud to have delivered the ETFE cushion canopy over the grandstand, along with the PVC membrane roof above the venue's gelato bar.

Next door in Luna Park, we also delivered the Big Top structure back in 2003 (the one with the yellow and white stripes), still standing as strong and bright as ever.

CommBank Stadium's roof does something clever: ETFE lets UV light straight through so the pitch below keeps growing, while the surrounding PTFE canopy gives 30,000 fans full rain cover.

Hope Island station officially opened 3 months ago, and we’re proud of the role Fabritecture played in bringing it to life!

Engaged by the Acciona Georgiou Joint Venture as part of the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority’s wider program, our scope of perforated aluminium screens, galvanised mesh panels, and enclosure systems spanned the full breadth of the station platforms, stairs, and lift shafts.
We’re proud to have delivered a striking visual element to this landmark piece of Gold Coast infrastructure, which our team completed with care.

ETFE cushions use pneumatic pressure to span large areas with minimal structure, like the ones pictured here, distributing loads evenly across the whole system without compromising strength.

This 'floating' canopy at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta is suspended 10 storeys above a courtyard by tie rods fixed to surrounding buildings. The lightweight nature of ETFE fabric meant it could be constructed using minimal structural support, to give the illusion of a free floating cloud-like canopy.

Design, fabrication, supply, and installation supervision, all under one roof.

Jakarta International Stadium's ETFE roof combines fixed and retractable portions, giving it full weather protection without losing the open-air experience fans came for.

North Sydney Olympic Pool reopens tomorrow!

As part of the redevelopment, Fabritecture designed and constructed the ETFE canopy over the grandstand: 16 three-layer ETFE cushions, each around 5.6m long and up to 3m wide, sheltering the 970-seat grandstand without closing in the open-air feel the pool is known for.

Our scope also included the PVC membrane roof over the site's new gelato bar on the eastern side of the building.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this iconic Sydney pool back to life.

One of the most technically demanding projects we've delivered: the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment.

Fabritecture designed, fabricated, and installed the PTFE membrane cladding for the main grandstand's dia-grid roof trusses, covering fabric and connections for both the South and East stands, plus canopies and awnings.

The project finished on time, to sign-off from both the main contractor and the City of Adelaide.
