Barra FG-Position Log Manifold

The first one is officially finished, and I’m really happy with how this has turned out.

The goal with this manifold was to keep the factory FG turbo position and stealth appearance, while improving the turbine entry and maintaining exhaust pulse separation as far into the collector as practical.

A few details:

• Factory FG T3 opening: approximately 57.5 x 43.5 mm
• My T3 fl**ge opening: approximately 64 x 47 mm
• Steam pipe: 1½" with approximately 39 mm ID
• Divided collector: incorporates a divider to keep the two exhaust pulses separated as far into the turbine entry as practical
• Construction: mild-steel steam pipe
• Turbo position: factory FG location

The collector and merge have been designed around maintaining pulse separation rather than simply dumping everything into one common log. The larger turbine entry also gives some additional area over the factory T3 opening.

The end result is a compact, strong and properly thought-out log manifold that keeps the factory FG-style turbo location without necessarily having to sacrifice flow and pulse control.

T3 & T4 options available

The T3 version is ready to order, and I’ll be making the T4 version next for those wanting to run larger 1000hp+ class turbos while retaining the same factory FG turbo position.

I had a heap of enquiries after yesterday’s post, so here’s an update on where this one is at.

I’m really happy with how this has come out. The bulk of the manifold is now made and the overall shape and collector have come together exactly how I pictured them.

It still needs a few things before it’s finished — I’ve given it a hard linish so far, and tomorrow I’ll work through the linishing process.The ports also still need to be die-ground and finished properly.

Once that’s all done, it’ll be ready to go.

Keep an eye on Marketplace tomorrow afternoon — I’ll be uploading the finished manifold then.

Barra FG-Position Log Manifold — Development

Something I’ve been working on for the Barra guys who want the FG factory turbo position and stealth appearance, but without being limited by the compromises of the factory manifold.

I’ve only completed the collector so far, but the concept is coming together exactly how I wanted.

The manifold will use 1½" mild-steel steam pipe with approximately a 39 mm internal diameter, merging into a divided collector and maintaining pulse separation all the way to the T3 fl**ge.

For reference:

• Factory FG T3 opening: approximately 57.5 x 43.5 mm
• My T3 fl**ge opening: approximately 64 x 47 mm
• 1½" steam pipe: approximately 39 mm ID
• Collector incorporates a divider to keep the two exhaust pulses separated as far into the turbine entry as practical.

The divider is built into the merge rather than simply dumping both banks into a common collector. The idea is to preserve the pulse energy and separation for as long as possible before the turbine.

That becomes increasingly important as exhaust manifold pressure rises. The factory manifold eventually gives the exhaust pulses a much greater opportunity to interact/revert within the manifold, whereas this design is intended to maintain separation right through to the turbine inlet.

The end result should be a better-flowing, pulse-conscious alternative to the factory manifold, while retaining that very desirable factory FG turbo location.

And for those wanting to go well beyond the capabilities of a standard T3 setup…

T4 version will also be available.

That means you’ll be able to run a 1000hp+ class turbo while keeping the turbo tucked into the factory FG position and retaining that almost factory/stealth appearance.

This is still in development, but if there is enough interest I’ll be putting these into production.

This customer requested dark blue anodised titanium to match the colour of his Falcon, and it's coming together beautifully.

The setup features: ✅ PSR 7975 1450HP turbo (G42 frame) ✅ 1.28 A/R turbine housing ✅ T4 twin-scroll, twin-gate manifold ✅ Full titanium 5 inch intake

With the 1.28 rear housing and T4 twin-scroll twin-gate setup, this combination will us every bit of the turbo's rated 1450HP with the right engine combination and supporting mods.

Can't wait to see this one finished and out on the road. 👌🔥

One manifold doesn't suit every application. 👌

A customer recently ordered one of my T4 twin-gate twin scroll manifolds for his drift car.

Interestingly, he'll be running a PSR Gen 3 3584 initially, even though this manifold is more commonly paired with G40/G42-sized turbos.

His reasoning was simple: future versatility.

The plan is to enjoy the responsiveness of the 3584 now, while leaving the door open to step up to a larger-frame turbo later without needing to replace the manifold.

I also offer a dedicated 3584 manifold, which positions the turbo closer to the power steering reservoir. This allows for a shorter intake pipe and is the setup I'd normally recommend for customers planning to stay with a 3584 long-term for a neater look.

In this case, though, the customer was happy to make that trade-off in exchange for future upgrade potential.

Every build has different priorities. That's why I offer different manifold options to suit different goals, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
