State of Origin tonight so naturally the old girl got cleaned up like she’s heading to the Logies instead of hauling gear tomorrow morning

No extra horsepower added… just a dangerous amount of NSW confidence.

Mat’s being very vocal from the lounge room while “helping coach” the Blues.

If NSW lose, the trucks will still roll tomorrow… but morale in the office may need a welfare check.

The Federal Budget is out… and if there’s one thing most Australians can agree on right now — life’s getting bloody expensive.

Fuel, groceries, power, insurance, rates… it feels like every invoice arrives with a personal attack attached lately.

Out here, it’s no different for small businesses either.

Keeping potable water moving isn’t just “fill the truck and go” anymore — diesel prices, tyres, servicing, compliance, parts and repairs all keep climbing right alongside everything else.

We know nobody’s jumping for joy when they need to order water.
But when the tanks run dry, we’ll still be here doing our best to keep the region going.

And unlike the budget…
at least our delivery actually turns up. 😉

Nothing like a “simple” water delivery…

Gate built for a quad bike
Driveway turns into a goat track halfway in
Hills that need a run-up
And somewhere along the way… the track just disappears

Meanwhile we’re rolling in something closer to a fire truck than a farm buggy

And those low hanging trees?
Yeah… we’re not trimming them with the truck — there’s gear on top that’s worth more than your first car

We’ll always have a crack…

But if we’re parked at the front gate having a yarn,
just know — your driveway won.

Diesel is knocking on the door of $3.50 a litre…

$3.50.

At this point it’s less “fuel” and more a luxury item.

And while prices are doing that…
service stations are starting to run out.

So now it’s not just expensive — it’s a lucky dip.

Will you get diesel today?
Will you need to remortgage the house?
Spin the bowser and find out

The solution?

Remove a tariff to “bring the price down.”

Which is great…
except you can’t discount something that isn’t there.

Meanwhile we’re being told to:
👉 Don’t use the air con
👉 Take roof racks off
👉 Drive less

Sure thing 👍

We’ll just:
Push the truck to site
Carry the water in buckets
And personally jog your freight across the country

Easy.

End of the day, everything still runs on trucks.

Food. Water. Supplies. The lot.

And right now the trucks are still rolling…
but everyone’s keeping a very close eye on that fuel gauge.

$2.70 a litre…

At this point the bowser may as well ask:
“Tap, card… or Afterpay?”

Because that’s where diesel is at right now.

And the real question everyone’s asking is:

Where does it actually stop?

Because it just keeps climbing…
and no one seems to have an answer.

Meanwhile, sitting quietly in the background:

Australia’s holding roughly a 30-day diesel supply.

So it’s not just about price anymore…

It’s about what happens if things tighten.

For us at Ulan Water, it’s simple:

No diesel = no truck
No truck = no water

That’s not dramatic — that’s just reality.

And it’s not just us.

This hits:
🌾 Farmers
🚛 Freight
🏗 Contractors
🛒 Every household

Because everything you rely on… got there by truck.

All while operators are already carrying:
• Rising insurance
• Higher rego
• Parts and tyres through the roof
• Compliance costs that don’t slow down

Now fuel just keeps climbing on top of it…

…and we’re all meant to just absorb it?

We’ll keep turning up.
We’ll keep delivering.
We’ll keep doing what needs to be done.

But at some point…

something has to give.

Because if diesel keeps going like this—

Don’t be surprised if your next water delivery turns up with a Speckle Park on the front, that runs on grass and Mat calling it “fully renewable.”
