Sutherland Shire UAV Entrants in the UAV Outback Challenge

Sutherland Shire Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (SSUAV) was formed in 2011 with the goal to compete in the UAV Outback Challenge. Held in Kingaroy Australia, the UAV Outback Challenge is a biennial competition attracting both local and international teams.

“The objective of the event is to demonstrate the utility of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for civilian applications. The competitors will be required to

develop a UAV that could save lives by quickly and cost effectively delivering medical supplies to critically ill patients in the Australian Outback.”

SSUAV are presently building & testing an Unmanned Aircraft capable of autonomously searching for, locating and dropping a bottle of water to “Outback Joe“, a lost manikin bushwalker up to a range of 9 kilometres away, then return safety home within 1 hour!
