Project Completion: Yiaga

We’re proud to have delivered the plant screen package for Yiaga with Hunter Mason, located within the heritage grounds of Fitzroy Gardens.

Led by acclaimed chef Hugh Allen, Yiaga brings a refined approach to modern Australian dining through an evolving degustation experience centred around native ingredients, seasonal produce, and local craftsmanship. Designed by Wardle, the restaurant transforms the former Pavilion Café site into a warm and immersive architectural space that feels deeply connected to the surrounding gardens.

Our scope involved the supply and installation of 40+ custom perforated screens mounted onto our engineered aluminium framing. While the screens serve a practical function for the plant rooms, they were also designed to behave much like the trees surrounding the building.

As sunlight moves throughout the day, the perforations allow light to filter through differently at every hour, casting constantly shifting shadow patterns across the surfaces below. In many ways, the screens perform like a tree canopy itself, softening light, creating movement, and helping the building dissolve more naturally into the landscape of Fitzroy Gardens.

Projects like Yiaga are a great example of how strong collaboration can bridge technical engineering with thoughtful, human-centred design. We’re proud to have contributed to a project where engineering, architecture and nature come together so seamlessly.

Project Completion: SKY SQR

Consisting of over 2,000sqm of in-house designed and fabricated acoustic ceilings, SKY SQR was a major project delivered on a tight timeline.

Working alongside ICON, we delivered a bespoke ceiling system featuring integrated acoustic lining, incorporating sound absorption solutions by Megasorber and premium timberlook finishes from Altwood.

Utilising a modular design, large sections of the ceiling were fabricated in our factory and then transported to site to accelerate installation. Night shifts and multiple crews were required to meet the crucial deadlines.

In addition to the ceiling works, our scope included powdercoated aluminium cladding in black and bronze finishes, applied across fascias, soffits, and columns throughout the precinct, complementing the warm timber aesthetic.

It was a challenging project, but one we were able to deliver successfully through our in-house capabilities, from design and fabrication to transport and installation, a true testament to our ability to execute large-scale, bespoke projects at scale!

Progress Update: Olive Green, Caulfield South

Our team is currently working on the early stages of installing AODELI NCP aluminium panels on the top floor of the Olive Green apartments alongside Balmain & Co.

The scope also includes ground floor fascia, custom planter boxes finished with aluminium panels, and COLORBOND® fencing across the project.

Once the scaffold comes down and the cladding film is removed, the building will really start to take shape. It’s always good seeing the transition from early installation stages to the final outcome, bringing the renders to life!

Project Completion: 17 Bennetts Lane

Custom Clad supplied a complete lightweight wall cavity system for the lobby entrance, combining steel framing, non-combustible insulation, breathable sarking, and metal battens.

Our brick slip cladding extended across both the internal and external faces of the front entry, reinforcing the continuity of the curved form. Our team also installed vertical feature cladding made from recycled Oregon timber salvaged from the demolition of the original structure on the site.

The finished result appears calm and effortless, a seamless curved brick facade that conceals months of planning, coordination and technical discipline.

Progress Update: 33 Harrow St, Box Hill

We’ve recently been on site in Box Hill carrying out recladding works for Merkon, replacing the building’s existing battens and aluminium panels with a fresh new set.

Our team attended site to inspect and remove the existing battens before supplying and installing new 30x30 two-part Altwood aluminium battens in a Light Oak finish at the main lobby entrance.

We also carried out the removal of over 700sqm of existing aluminium panels across four internal levels of the building, with new Vitradual Snow White panels to be installed as part of the next stage of works.

We’ll share a final update once the scaffolding is removed and the building is handed back to residents with a fresh new look!

Project Completion: 17 Bennetts Lane

Rising 20 storeys above Melbourne’s CBD, 17 Bennetts Lane, developed by Perri Group and Pellicano, delivered by Hacer Group, shows what can be achieved when technical façade engineering and vision align.

At street level, the project is defined by a highly intricate curved brick façade where horizontal and vertical curves intersect to form a seamless sculptural surface, a level of geometry rarely attempted due to the precision required to deliver it on site.

Our scope included a complete lightweight wall cavity system and curved light gauge steel framing fabricated in house, along with brick slip cladding that continues through the front entry and vertical feature cladding using recycled Oregon timber from the original structure.

Delivered on a tight CBD site with limited access, the project relied on careful logistics, precise set out and strong collaboration across teams. The finished façade reads as calm and effortless, but behind it sits months of planning and technical coordination.

It has been incredibly fulfilling to continue pushing the limits of cladding innovation alongside Hacer Group, setting a new benchmark for what can be achieved through a coordinated and collaborative approach.
