We've been busy in the studio, as well as out and about, making some significant updates to our website - https://www.evissa.com.au/

Jump on and you'll see additional information about our purpose, that shapes every product and project we deliver.

There are updates to our project case studies, with some fabulous imagery and extra detail.

But most exciting - visit our Evissa dwellings https://www.evissa.com.au/dwellings

and explore interactive 3D walkthroughs of each design. Click on a dwelling, scroll down to the 3D panel, and use your mouse or your phone to explore.

Today, 23.05.2026, we hosted a site tour at the project in South Yarra, a deep retrofit exploring how can be integrated within an existing Victorian terrace.

One of the most valuable aspects of opening up projects during construction is that it reveals the reality behind high-performance retrofit work.

Airtightness, thermal continuity and heritage preservation are never abstract concepts on paper, they become physical decisions that need to be resolved on site.

A few reflections from today:

- Existing buildings always come with latent conditions. Retrofit projects require adaptability, patience and detailed coordination throughout demolition and construction.

- Achieving EnerPHit-level performance within existing masonry structures is possible, but it demands precision across every trade and junction.

- SIPs enabled us to front-load coordination and accelerate the enclosure process while maintaining envelope consistency and airtightness targets.

- Some of the best conversations today revolved around balancing preservation with performance, understanding what should remain, what should evolve, and how contemporary interventions can respectfully coexist with heritage fabric.

- Retrofitting existing housing stock will become an increasingly important part of decarbonising the built environment. Projects like Argo are not only architectural exercises; they are learning platforms for the wider industry.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on site and contributed to the discussions around building physics, retrofit methodology and the future of high-performance residential construction.

Homes are more than shelter: they are living systems that should protect health, reduce environmental impact, and respond meaningfully to place.

A few days ago at I spoke about how the current housing stock performs, how they are built, and how they affect the people inside them.

In our work we prioritise performance, for people and country, we create healthy indoor environments, and work toward homes with minimal to zero energy demand. Through sustainable materials, resilient construction, and adaptable dwellings, is committed to buildings that are comfortable, efficient, contextual, and ready for life.

We had a great time at Home Show last weekend, sharing Evissa's approach to creating beautiful, healthy and efficient homes. Ready for whatever life throws at them!

Between the many great questions and conversations our team fielded over 3 days, we also took the opportunity to check out the show and the other exhibitors.

Here's a few things that made us think 'people need to know about this!'

1. Increased awareness of what truly sustainable homes mean for occupants, going beyond energy to focus on comfort, health, and long-term performance.

2. More people understand Passivhaus and the benefits of modular construction as a smarter, more efficient way to build.

3. Rapid improvements in solar panel efficiency, alongside simpler mechanical ventilation systems that improve the indoor air quality, are becoming more accessible for residential use.

4. Increased demand towards simpler, more compact home designs that prioritise comfort and efficiency over larger, underperforming dwellings.
