🔧 WE’RE HIRING – FULL-TIME MECHANIC 🔧

Things are getting busier at Skillen Industries Diesel, and we’re looking for another qualified mechanic to join our team in Heatherbrae.

This is a full-time Monday–Friday position working on a wide variety of vehicles and jobs. We’re not a workshop where you’ll be doing the same thing day in, day out — our work ranges from diesel diagnostics and mechanical repairs through to injectors, turbos, engine work, performance upgrades, 4WDs and American trucks.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good attitude and is comfortable working independently as part of a small team.

Diesel and diagnostic experience is highly regarded, but ultimately we’re looking for the right person who wants to come on board and grow with the business.

This one came in for a custom dyno tune to improve torque, response and overall drivability.

Stock: 85.4kW / 235Nm
Tuned: 105.0kW / 381Nm

A gain of 19.6kW and 146Nm, with a massive improvement in usable torque where it matters.

Every vehicle is logged and tuned individually on our dyno — we’re not interested in chasing a number for the sake of it. The aim is a strong, usable result that suits the vehicle.

ISUZU D-MAX DYNO TUNE 🔥

Another D-MAX through the workshop for a custom dyno tune.

This one came in making 70.4kW / 380Nm at the wheels and left making 100.5kW / 530Nm.

That’s a gain of:

⚡ +30.1kW
💪 +150Nm

More importantly, we’ve delivered a strong, usable torque increase where you actually want it — making the D-MAX much nicer to drive and giving it extra pulling power for towing, overtaking and everyday use.

Every vehicle is logged and tested on our dyno so we can tune it to suit the individual vehicle rather than simply loading in a generic file.

Big Daddy RAM 2500 💪🔥

This one came in for a stock-optimised tune to sharpen up the factory setup without pushing the driveline beyond what we’re comfortable with.

Stock: 222.1kW / 1027Nm
Optimised: 234.3kW / 1079Nm

A modest gain of 12.2kW and 52Nm, with the bigger improvement being in the way the truck delivers its torque and responds on the road.

We now also have access to unlocked ECUs for late-model RAM 2500s, giving us the ability to properly access and tune these platforms in-house.

On these trucks, we’re not interested in chasing numbers if the transmission isn’t ready for it. To safely push further, we’d recommend upgrading the transmission valve body and tuning the transmission to suit — which is something we can now offer as part of the package.

More power is easy. Making the whole package work properly together is what matters.

A really solid improvement through the usable rev range, with the focus on stronger torque, better throttle response and improved drivability for everyday use, touring and towing.

As always, the aim isn’t just chasing a peak number — it’s about making the vehicle drive better where it actually matters.

Next-Gen V6 Ranger in for a custom dyno tune 🔧🔥

This one came in already making a healthy number, but there was still plenty left in it.

Stock: 144.3kW / 430Nm
Tuned: 162.3kW / 517Nm

That’s a gain of 18kW and 87Nm.

The focus was on improving usable torque, throttle response and overall drivability rather than simply chasing a peak number.

The result is a noticeably stronger Ranger through the mid-range, with a much better torque delivery for towing, touring and everyday driving.

Been a little quiet on socials lately… but definitely not quiet in the workshop 👨‍🔧🔥

The last few days have been flat out with a bit of everything coming through the doors:

🔧 Custom dyno tuning
🔧Injector upgrades
💻 RAM 2500 ECU unlocks and tuning prep
🩺 Diagnostics and fault finding
⚙️ General diesel repairs and performance work

Plenty happening behind the scenes, with another two tunes booked in tomorrow — an Isuzu MU-X and a Next-Gen Ranger.

We might not always get time to post it all, but the workshop has been busy and the variety of work coming through has been unreal.

Back in the workshop for round two 🔧🔥

This 2022 Toyota LandCruiser Troopy was in with us about a month ago for a clutch upgrade, and this time it was back for a thermofan kit and custom dyno tune.

Stock: 99.9kW / 324Nm
Tuned: 124.1kW / 462Nm

That’s a gain of 24.2kW and 138Nm.

The focus with these Troopies is strong, usable torque, improved drivability and a reliable setup that works well for touring, towing and everyday driving.

The thermofan setup also helps improve airflow and cooling performance when the vehicle is working hard or travelling at lower speeds.

Another Troopy transformed and ready to get back on the road. 👌

This one came in producing:

Stock: 80.2kW / 430Nm
Tuned: 98.8kW / 510Nm

That’s a gain of 18.6kW and 80Nm, with the focus on stronger usable torque, improved throttle response and better drivability throughout the rev range.

The Hilux was health checked before tuning, strapped onto our in-house dyno and tuned to suit the vehicle rather than simply chasing a peak number.

Finished off with a quality exhaust setup and a noticeably stronger result on the road.
