Recently MGN Civil alongside Superior Jetties completed the largest superyacht berth in Australia.

Located at the Southport Yacht Club on the Gold Coast, the berth consists of a rock revetment retaining structure overlaid with a concrete wall. The berthing pontoon is 163m long and 5 metres wide.

The facility is able to cater for vessels up to 135m and is poised to change the Australian boating landscape.

Some time ago we developed a simple method of getting across very soft dredged mud. Using a tractor and ditcher we side cast sand in very thin layers across the mud to slowly build a traversable platform. This significantly reduces the chance of mud waving, providing the client with a consistent layer from which to undertake the next stage of development.

Several months ago some of the team made their way across the top of Australia to start a new project in the Pilbara. In doing so the team made a bit of an adventure of it visiting among other places The Devils Marbles, Carnarvon Gorge, Jasper Gorge, The Gibb Road, Cape Keraudren, Karijini NP, Marble Bar, Cossack, Dooleena Gorge, Point Samson, Mount Meharry and the Burrup Peninsula. Here are few snaps of their journey across and visits since then.

We are proud to have been part of this iconic project. We wish the Port of Brisbane and all the nominees the best of luck with the awards.

We’re delighted to share that the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal has been shortlisted in the IAPH Sustainability Awards!

We’re one of three finalists shortlisted for the “Resilient Physical Infrastructure” category.

These awards recognise sustainable development in the global ports industry and it’s a testament to the project and our project partners that we’ve been shortlisted. The BICT’s design and construction will help it to deliver long-term, sustainable benefits for the community, economy and industry in Queensland. Thank you to all our principal contractors, consultants and partners, and all who contributed to the success of the project: the Queensland Government, MGN Civil Pty Ltd, Hindmarsh, Brady Marine & Civil, Arkhefield, Arup, and so many others.

Public voting on the finalists is now open – please consider casting a vote for the BICT via this link! https://sustainableworldports.org/iaph-sustainability-awards-2021

Our friends, Gladstone Ports Corporation and Ports Australia, are also nominated as finalists in other categories for their fantastic work. We’re sure they’d appreciate your vote too if you felt their projects were also worthy winners! 😉

Recently we commenced the lining of Dam 8 in the former Mount Morgan Gold Mine. Once the upgrade is complete, the dam will retain inflows ultimately reducing the volume of contaminated water flowing into the old open cut pit. To date the site has been stripped and sub grade works completed. #
