Southern Launch has officially landed in the nation's capital with the opening of our Canberra office!

The office was officially opened by Andrew Barr MLA, Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, and Michael Clausen, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, alongside our CEO Lloyd Damp. We were also privileged to be joined by Federal Member for Grey, Tom Venning MP.

Establishing a presence in Canberra marks an important milestone in Southern Launch's growth and reflects our commitment to supporting Australia's sovereign space and national security capabilities. As demand for responsive and secure space services continues to grow, our Canberra office will strengthen engagement with government, defence and industry partners.

Southern Launch is attending the 2026 Southern Space Conference, presented by the Space Industry Association of Australia, August 11-12 at QT Canberra.

On day 2 of the conference, Southern Launch's Chief of Ranges & Infrastructure and SIAA Deputy Chair & Non-Executive Director, Tori Murray will be moderating the 'Building an Inclusive Space Workforce' panel.

We're proud to share the successful launch of our Koonibba Rising Rocket with Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG)!

This is the third mission to take place at the Koonibba Test Range in 2026 and marks a major milestone in enhancing Australia’s sovereign rocket capabilities.

The KRR vehicle flew as designed, successfully validating the DSTG-Thales led Advanced Rocket Motor Technology Demonstrator (ARMTD) Program rocket motor in flight.

This mission highlights the strength that comes from industry-government collaboration. We are so proud to contribute our infrastructure and expertise to advance Australian capabilities.

Another mission complete. Onto the next! 🚀

Space Week 2026, wow! We're only just catching our breath.

Our team were out in force last week bringing the potential of Australian Space to young and old, through conversations and our ever-popular immersive experience.

Starting with the Australian Space Agency's Space Day Out, where we met so many space fans and future innovators!

Straight into The Andy Thomas Space Foundation Space Forum, connecting with industry peers and international partners. It was a pleasure to meet Senator Tim Ayres ahead of his announcement of the Albanese Government's New Statement on Space.

Across the other side of the globe our sales team joined the Austrade delegation at Farnborough Airshow, sharing Australian capability with some of the global leaders in Aerospace.

Day 1 of the 19th Andy Thomas Space Foundation Space Forum!

Our team were on-site with our immersive experience. Connecting with industry partners, educating the public about South Australia’s space capability and inspiring young people to pursue a career in space!

Tomorrow our team will be participating in two panel discussions:
08:30 - Amy Featherston on Australia’s role in the Artemis program.
11:30 - Lloyd Damp on Downstream industry opportunities.

We're just one week away from the The Andy Thomas Space Foundation's 19th Australian Space Forum. You can see us at Booth 29 to meet the Southern Launch team and experience the thrill of an immersive rocket launch.

Southern Launch will also be contributing to two key sessions on Day 2 of the Forum:

🚀 Lloyd Damp, CEO of Southern Launch, will share insights into the future of Australia's space sector in the From Launch to Legacy: Downstream Industry Opportunity session.

✨ Amy Featherston, GM of Sales & Marketing, will discuss Southern Launch's role in the Artemis II mission during the Humanities Return to the Moon: Australia's Role in the Artemis Program session.

Earlier this month we had the incredible opportunity to introduce Australian of the Year and Astronaut, Katherine Bennell-Pegg to some of our favourite places on the Eyre Peninsula.

Engaging with students from Port Lincoln to Penong, Katherine shared how bold ambitions, space exploration, and real-world innovation are shaping new opportunities across regional South Australia, Australia's gateway to space 🚀🛰️
