Business update: After another busy year, Enhanced Construction is taking a well-deserved break for the next 4-6 months. Next year, we are excited to reboot the business with new ideas and our continuing, strong commitment to delivering sustainable, healthy homes built specifically for Tasmanian conditions. We can still be contacted via our website and existing email addresses are still in use.

We want to express sincere gratitude to our teams, networks of trusted trades and our fantastic clients, trusting us to deliver the vision for their projects. Our success would not have been possible without the support of all of these people.

A special shout-out to our exceptional teams - for their commitment and dedication to consistent quality work and supporting our clients throughout every project.

Lastly, Damian and Anja are leaving the business to pursue another venture - I want to say a huge thankyou to them for their long-standing support and commitment to helping the business grow from a small, single-team building company, expanding into an award-winning, multi team business. You gave me the courage to push myself and achieve what we set out to do.

In the meantime - signing off - see you next year!
Matt

So pleased to announce our win at this year's HIA Awards - winning small commercial project for our library re-development at John Paul II Primary School in Rokeby. A first class team delivered this build - foreman Trent Stevens, leading hands Christian Rieper + Jordan Buckney and project manager, Damian Flynn.
Mana architects delivered an elevated and considered design - brought to life by the team over the following months. The proof was delivered in a comment by one of the young primary students, who said to architect, Nicky Adams:
‘Excuse me, is this for me? Thank you for making me feel so special.’

Talk about the ultimate Friday knockoff! During a South Hobart demolition, our team uncovered a vintage 1970's Cascade Brewery Co draught classic.
Nothing like a little local loyalty - Cascade's home is just down the road.

🏠 Progress update on our new build in the foothills of kunanyi/Mount Wellington.

We’re thrilled to share the latest milestone for this beautiful family home! The cladding is going up, and we’re using locally sourced Yellow Gum from Torenius Sawmills. This semi-rough sawn shiplap timber has a unique character and strength, perfect for the design.

Why Yellow Gum?

Not only does it look amazing, but Yellow Gum meets the strict BAL rating (Bushfire Attack Level) requirements for the area. Safety and beauty combined!
The owner (and architect) is adding a personal touch by treating the timber with a dark tint, bringing out the richness in the wood while blending harmoniously with the surrounding natural landscape.

The tint of the timber is a nod to an old-school Tasmanian vernacular, when rough sawn boards were treated with used sump oil - acting as both a colourning and very effective timber preservative - the classic houses of early Tasmania - the dark vertically clad timber houses of the 1930’s and '40’s.

Our team recently completed a remarkable heritage project in Bothwell—restoring the roofs of two 1863 workers’ cottages. The brief was to reinforce the roof structure while preserving the original hand-split shingles, which have been protected by a corrugated iron roof for 80 years.

Working closely with expert heritage engineer Peter Spratt, we ensured that the new roofing iron matches the exact gauge and dimensions of the old one, preserving the integrity and character of these historic homes.

Heritage projects like these highlight the importance of combining traditional craftsmanship with modern problem-solving skills.

We would like to congratulate Custom Cabinets Tasmania for receiving a High Commendation at the 2024 HIA-CSR Tasmanian Awards, for their excellence in joinery work for the John Paul II Catholic School library project.

Trent and the Enhanced Construction Team worked closely with Custom Cabinet's Peter Murray. This collaboration ensured that every detail met the highest of standards.
