We love timber! It brings depth, contrast and a touch of nature inside a home. Two years ago our client’s American Oak tree, which they had planted in their Kingston backyard in the 1970s, needed to be felled. We suggested we have it cut and dried for use in their new home. It was so rewarding seeing our client enjoy the beautiful timber used for their new kitchen joinery, ceiling light and entry cabinet knowing these beautiful pieces were made from the tree which they planted.

It's all in the details .... our client needed a sound proof music studio so he could play as loudly as he wanted at any time, day or night. While designing his new house we engaged the services of an acoustic engineer to help achieve our client’s needs. The design took a lot of careful coordination between the acoustic engineer, architect, client and builder.

We basically built a separate room within the house structure, not touching each other, with specialty sealing, acoustic glues and many layers of sheeting products. Our carpenters took great care in building this space to achieve the specification.

On completion Jack, the acoustic engineer, tested the space by having a loudspeaker blasting white noise and music at unbearably high volumes, and took measurements inside the house as well as outside.

Our client was very impressed with the end result as it allowed him to pursue his love of music. He could play his instruments as loudly as he wanted, even in the middle of the night, without disturbing those asleep in the home nor receiving any noise complaints from the neighbours.

One of our clients had natural timber cladding as part of her design brief. We carefully installed the Silver Top Ash boards so the grain continued through the 'hidden' garage door which we think looks pretty amazing! Who's ever wanted a secret passage in their home?

Yesterday was a big day for our staff ... a happy birthday to Dave, and also a happy 5 year anniversary since Paul started working with Lifetime Homes. Chicken jalfezi for his lunch to celebrate ... we'd never heard of it before but it's quite popular in UK. Thanks Paul for all your hard work, excellent expertise and calm manner over the past 5 years.

We loved working on this stunning Bellerive Lifetime Home and seeing our client's dreams and plans become a reality. Lots of challenges on this project, including a worldwide pandemic, however our client was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish.

Asking what her favourite feature was she said it's hard to name just one thing but overall it's how easy her life is in this home and how she can be more independent. The bathroom, laundry, clothesline height, toe kicks, step free doorways and smart assistive technology are just some of the few items we worked on getting just right.

We truly hope you enjoy living in your absolutely stunning Lifetime Home.

Lifetime Homes don't always have to be single level. We handed over this stunning two story home to our clients this week. Option to use the wide accessible stairs with hand rails and visual cues ... or take a ride in the wheelchair accessible lift.
