Inside the wall of one of Tasmania’s highest hydro storages, FRW Industrial helped support the careful inspection of infrastructure that plays a quiet but vital role in powering the state.

At Lake Mackenzie, within the Central Plateau Conservation Area and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, FRW Industrial worked in partnership with Hydro Tasmania to deliver mechanical maintenance, inspection support and confined space management across two challenging locations: The Mackenzie Dam wall and the forebay.

Our team enabled safe access for Hydro Tasmania engineers to inspect conduits, perform general maintenance, and collect oil samples, supporting the ongoing reliability of the Mersey–Forth hydroelectric scheme.

Formed in 1972 after the construction of Mackenzie Dam, Lake Mackenzie remains the highest water storage in the scheme, which contributes approximately 338 megawatts, or around 16 per cent of Tasmania’s electricity.

For FRW Industrial, it was another opportunity to support critical renewable energy infrastructure in one of Tasmania’s most significant natural and engineered environments.

This kind of work depends on getting every detail right. Installing rockfall netting in difficult-access areas is not just about getting onto the face. It is about following the design properly and ensuring it is installed as intended.

Working alongside Geotechnical teams and companies, our job is to carry out that work safely, carefully, and in line with the specification.

We take the time to do it properly, because in this environment, there is no room for shortcuts or guesswork.
That is how trust is built on-site, and that is what we focus on every day.

Let’s not overcomplicate it. High-risk work is exactly that, high risk.
And when the wrong person is doing do***ng, rigging, or working at height, it doesn’t just affect the job, it puts people, equipment, and timelines on the line.

DG. RB. RI. RA. WP.

Those licences aren’t there for show. They exist because this work demands real skill, real awareness, and zero guesswork.

We’ve all seen what happens when standards slip. And we’ve all seen the difference when the right people are on the tools.

At FRW Industrial, we don’t leave that to chance.
We back licensed, capable trades because that’s what keeps jobs running safely and properly.

If you’re reviewing your workforce or upcoming projects, now’s the time to get it right.
👉 Let’s have a conversation about how we can support your site with the right people.

Get to Know Dave, Owner of FRW Industrial
Most people don’t see the work that goes into keeping infrastructure, facilities, and commercial sites operating safely at height.

Dave does.

Before starting FRW Industrial, Dave spent years working across Australia in infrastructure, rope access, and trade-based environments. His background across Queensland and Western Australia gave him strong mechanical trade knowledge, height safety expertise, and practical on-site problem-solving experience.

That experience is what FRW Industrial is built on.

Founded in 2023, FRW Industrial is not just about providing access. It’s about completing the work properly once we’re up there, from inspection and maintenance through to repairs and project completion.

Dave’s background has always been hands-on, out where the work actually happens. That shapes how we operate today: clear communication, safe planning, no unnecessary delays, and practical solutions that suit commercial and industrial environments.

At its core, FRW Industrial is a family-run Tasmanian business built on integrity, professionalism, strong work culture, and a team that genuinely takes pride in the work they do.

Because when you’ve done the work yourself, you understand what’s at stake. Safety, reliability, and getting the job done right the first time.

Good work speaks for itself, but it means more when it comes from the people you have worked alongside.
We recently supported a rope access project, helping manage height safety and ensuring everything ran as it should.
This is what the team at Yeti Cleaning & Maintenance Pty Ltd had to say about working with us.
That is what we aim for every time. Turning up prepared, working safely, and delivering without the stress.
If you need a team you can rely on, send us a message and we will have a chat.

If you were standing on the street looking at this, you would probably think it is just a window-cleaning job happening above you. People on ropes, moving across the glass, doing what looks like a simple task, unless you're afraid of heights!

What you do not see is everything that has already happened before they even got there. There is planning behind it: how we access the building, how we move through internal spaces without interrupting businesses, how we set up safely on the roof, and how we ensure every part of the job is done properly and in line with requirements. There are certifications, permits, and processes that sit behind what looks like a straightforward job.

And then there is the team itself.

A team that turns up when they say they will, works safely at height, communicates properly, and gets the job done without creating problems for anyone else in the building. That is what matters to the people responsible for these properties. Because at the end of the day, it is not just about clean glass, it is about knowing the job will be handled properly from start to finish.

If you are responsible for a site like this and want a team you can rely on to turn up, work safely, and get it done right, send us a message and we will organise the rest.

We arrived at Peppers Silo Hotel thinking, for a split second, this might be one of those jobs where you end up with a penthouse view and a cold beverage in hand…

Yeah, not today.

Instead, it’s gear on, straight through the building, and up the internal stairs like anyone else, except we’re carrying ropes, helmets, and everything we need to turn the top of this place into a working system.

And to be fair, once you get up there, the view does hit you. Launceston is laid out in a way most people never see it, quiet, wide open, and a reminder of why we actually enjoy this work. It’s not just the job, it’s where it takes you.

But we were not there to sightsee.

We get straight into building the system properly. Anchor points come first, not just clipped in and forgotten, but properly assessed, backed up, and set so there’s no weak link anywhere. From there, ropes are fed down the face of the building, kept clean and controlled so they run exactly how we need them to. Anywhere the rope meets an edge, we protect it. No shortcuts, edge protection goes in to make sure everything holds up under load and over time.

Then comes the part most people don’t even realise is happening. Adjusting knots, setting rope lengths, and equalising the load across the anchors so the weight is shared properly. It’s not guesswork; it’s small changes that make the whole system run smoothly and safely.

Once all of that’s dialled in, and only once it’s dialled in, the next technician makes their way up from the bottom and into a system that’s already been built to perform. From the outside, it looks simple. Someone on a rope is cleaning windows.
From our side, it’s a full setup, step by step, done properly, so everything works exactly how it should.
And yeah… still a better view than the penthouse.

Put yourself in your client’s shoes for a second. You’re walking into your building tomorrow for the first time.
What do you notice?
Is it clean?
Does it look looked after?
Or does it feel a bit tired… a bit neglected?

We get used to seeing the same thing every day. We stop noticing the grime, the streaky windows, the small things slipping.
But your clients don’t. That first impression is made before a word is even spoken.

That’s where we come in. From proper pressure washing to clean windows, signage, repairs, and full maintenance, we make sure your site looks and runs the way it should. At FRW Industrial, it’s not about a quick clean. It’s about making sure your property reflects the standard of your business.

If you walked in tomorrow as a client… would you be impressed?
👉 If not, let’s fix that.

Most people in this industry have seen it.
Jobs that should’ve been done right the first time… weren’t.
Safety corners cut. Quality missed. Rework that costs time and money.
It usually comes back to one thing - capability.

An Engineering Trade Certificate isn’t just a qualification.
It’s proof that the person on the tools has the training, the standards, and the experience to deliver properly.
For our clients, that means less risk and more confidence.
For their customers, it means outcomes that hold up long after the job is finished.

At FRW Industrial, we don’t compromise on capability.
Because when the right people are on the job, everything else follows.
