Nomac Built

Nomac Built Hobart bathroom renovation, extension and new build specialists - focus on strong client communication and exceptional build quality.

Nomac Built was founded by Tom and Zak — two Hobart builders with over a decade of experience each. After years working for other companies, we saw a gap in the market: clients were often left in the dark, plans lacked detail, and quality was hit-and-miss. So, we set out to build a company where clarity, communication, and craftsmanship come standard. Whether it’s a small renovation or a full new build, we take pride in doing things properly — and earning the trust of every client we work with.

Not every feature in a renovation comes from a tile catalogue 🔨

The reclaimed window in the Lollara Road ensuite came from a historic pub in Sydney. It was Anne's idea - and it's the kind of detail that gives a space a story you can't manufacture.

Getting it to work took some thought. The framing, the waterproofing around it, the way it sits within the tiling - none of that is straightforward with a reclaimed piece. But that's exactly the sort of problem worth solving.
It's now one of our favourite details across any project we've done.

An old deck turned into a spa-like ensuite. An awkward mudroom entry reimagined as a grand arched hallway. A reclaimed window from a historic Sydney pub sitting as the centrepiece of a brand new bathroom.

The Lollara Road project was one of those renovations where the brief went well beyond tiles and tapware.

Working with homeowner Anne and architect Andy Armstrong, we reconfigured a whole section of the home - creating a true parents' retreat with the master bedroom, home office, and new ensuite all connected through a single, considered entry sequence.

The result speaks for itself. As Anne put it: "I've got nothing but praise for Nomac Built - a really quality company that delivers."

Ten years each in the industry. Started Nomac because they'd both seen how it shouldn't be done 👌

Tom and Zak aren't project managers or salespeople - they're the ones on site every day, making decisions, solving problems, and caring about how things turn out. That's not a selling point. It's just how they built the business.
If you've been quoted by a builder you never heard from again, you'll understand why that matters.

5.7 square metres. Stripped back to bare bones and rebuilt from the ground up.

The Geeveston ensuite had an awkward raised screed entry into the shower that made the whole space feel clunky. We levelled the floor, reconfigured the layout, and rebuilt it with a hidden storage niche, built-in shower seat, and basket weave floor tile that adds real depth and character.

The centrepiece is a custom Tasmanian Oak vanity by WD Crutch Joinery, topped with stone from Renshaw Stone and finished with gold tapware throughout. Modern farmhouse - done properly.

If you're thinking about extending your Hobart home in 2026, this article is worth reading before you commit to anything 🤝

The short version: value doesn't come from adding square metres. It comes from fixing how the home functions day to day.

The extensions that consistently perform best in the Hobart market right now:

- Rear living reconfigurations: opening up the back of older homes is still one of the strongest moves, particularly in suburbs like West Hobart and Lenah Valley where enclosed kitchens and limited outdoor connection are common

- Kitchen proportion and storage: usability and layout outperform finishes every time. Bench space, circulation, and yard connection matter more than what the tap looks like

- Flexible secondary spaces: a well-placed study or retreat that gets natural light and a bit of separation. Working patterns have shifted, and buyers notice when a home accommodates that

- Master suites: a well-proportioned bedroom, ensuite, and storage adds more than squeezing in an extra small room-Indoor-outdoor connection built for Tasmanian conditions: sheltered, north-facing, with materials that handle the cold and coastal exposure

Project Spotlight 💡 The existing ensuite at Birchs Bay was only accessible through the walk-in robe - the bathtub hadn't been used in years and he rooms either side felt cut off and under-utilised.

Sometimes a renovation isn't just about the room you're working on - it's about what that room is doing to everything around it.

We reduced the ensuite footprint, replaced the old walk-in robe entry with a new direct access point, and used the reclaimed space to open up the office and spare room next door. The whole upper floor changed.

Fresh, modern finish throughout. A layout that finally makes sense - check out the full project via https://www.nomacbuilt.com.au/projects/birchs-bay-bathroom-renovation

Building a custom home in Hobart is one of the biggest decisions you'll make. It should also be one of the most straightforward...

At Nomac Built, every custom home build is managed directly by Tom and Zak - from the first site meeting through to the day you get your keys. No handoffs, no third-party project managers, no wondering who to call when something comes up.

We're currently working on a custom build on Bruny Island - one of the more unique locations we've had the pleasure of building in. More on that one soon.

If you're thinking about building a custom home in Hobart or Southern Tasmania, we'd love to have a conversation about what's involved.
