Diesel Hits $3.14/L — And Concrete Pumpers Are Feeling Every Cent
By PumpXchange Research · 27/03/2026
Australia's national average diesel price hit $3.14 per litre this week — an all-time record — according to the NRMA. In some regional areas, prices have climbed past $3.40. For concrete pumping businesses running trucks that burn through 80 to 150 litres per shift, the maths has become brutal.
Twelve months ago, diesel was sitting around $1.80/L. Today, a pump operator filling up a 200-litre tank is paying $628 — up from $360 a year ago. That's an extra $268 per fill, or roughly $1,300 per week in additional fuel costs for a single truck.
