A quick recap of the Milperra journey so far. πŸ› οΈ

If you've been following along, you've seen this build come together stage by stage. For anyone just joining β€” here's where we're up to.

πŸ”Ή Framing β€” timber up, window and door jambs set, the new room squared πŸ”Ή Gyprock β€” insulation in, sheets fixed, ceilings square-set, skylight integrated πŸ”Ή Tiling β€” large-format tiles flowing through kitchen, living, and bathroom πŸ”Ή Kitchen install β€” main kitchen, walk-in pantry, custom living-area cabinetry πŸ”Ή Cladding β€” Hardie wrap, vertical profile, gutters and downpipes in

Every stage building on the one before. No skipped steps. No reactive problem-solving. Just a measured, sequential build coming together the way it was planned from day one.

This is why we say "planned properly, delivered predictably." Most builders renovate as they go. We map the whole project out first β€” and then we execute against it, milestone by milestone.

Now we're heading into final finishes β€” paint, fit-off, fixtures, and the outdoor entertaining build. The reveal isn't far away.

Thanks to everyone who's followed along through the journey so far. Plenty more to come. πŸ‘€

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: which stage of a renovation do you find the most satisfying to watch β€” the demo, the build, or the finishes? Drop your answer below. πŸ‘‡

Milperra update β€” the cladding is on. πŸ› οΈ

The new extension officially has its exterior skin. This week the team has wrapped up:
πŸ”Ή James Hardie weather barrier installed across the entire envelope πŸ”Ή Vertical cladding profile fixed and aligned πŸ”Ή Skylights flashed and sealed πŸ”Ή Gutters, fascia, and downpipes integrated into the new roofline πŸ”Ή Eaves lining and corner trims in
There's a moment in every build where the project stops looking like a worksite and starts looking like a finished home. This is that moment.
A few things we're particular about at this stage:

The weather barrier behind the cladding. Most people only ever see the cladding itself β€” but the wrap behind it is what protects the home from moisture, drafts, and long-term damage. Skip it or install it sloppily and you're building in problems for later.

Skylight flashing. Skylights are beautiful when they work, and a nightmare when they leak. The flashing detail is what separates the two. We don't compromise on this stage.

Clean corner trims. Cladding done well lives or dies on its corners. Crisp, square, properly mitred corners are what make the finished result look considered rather than rushed.

The exterior of the build is essentially complete. From here, we move into final internal finishes, paint, and the outdoor entertaining build. The reveal is genuinely close now.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you look at a renovated home from the street, what makes it look "done properly" to you β€” the cladding, the roofline, the colour, or the proportions? Drop your answer below. πŸ‘‡

San Souci update β€” and the bathroom is really starting to come to life. ✨

After all the prep work β€” the demo, the whole-of-home floor levelling, the waterproofing β€” we're now well into the finishes stage on the bathroom. And it's shaping up to be one of our favourite builds in recent memory.

A few details worth pointing out:
πŸ”Ή Hand-finished zellige-style wall tiles in a soft sage tone β€” every tile has a slightly different shade and finish, which is the point. Hand-made tiles bring warmth and texture you can't replicate with machine-perfect porcelain.
πŸ”Ή Terracotta herringbone floor flowing through the space β€” bold, warm, character-led. A real anchor for the whole design.
πŸ”Ή Custom travertine pedestal basin with integrated splashback β€” a real piece of natural stone, cut and assembled as one sculptural element. This is the hero of the room and worth every minute of the planning that went into it.
πŸ”Ή Wall-hung toilet with concealed cistern and brushed nickel push plate β€” clean, modern, and easier to keep spotless than a standard floor-mounted unit.
πŸ”Ή Brushed nickel tapware throughout β€” pulls together the warm tones of the floor and basin with the cooler greys of the wall tiles. Brass would have been too warm. Chrome would have been too cold. Nickel was the right call.
πŸ”Ή Backlit mirror for soft, ambient lighting β€” no harsh overheads needed for atmosphere.

This bathroom isn't following a trend. It's making a choice. Hand-made textures, real stone, and warm earth tones that will still feel right in twenty years.

Final fit-off and detailing coming. The reveal isn't far away.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you imagine your dream bathroom, do you go warm and earthy like this β€” or cool and minimal? Drop your answer below. πŸ‘‡

Milperra update β€” the kitchen is going in. πŸ› οΈ

This week the cabinetmakers have been on-site bringing the heart of the home together:
πŸ”Ή Main kitchen β€” overhead cabinets, base units, and the island are all up
πŸ”Ή Walk-in pantry β€” proper, generous storage with shelving, drawers, and a corner bench
πŸ”Ή Living-area cabinetry β€” a custom built-in run tying the whole open-plan space together

Kitchens are deceptively complex. Every cabinet has to be perfectly level, perfectly square, and perfectly aligned with the next β€” because once the stone benchtop goes on, there's no hiding a frame that's a millimetre out. Get the install right and the whole space sings. Get it wrong and you're chasing problems through every door, drawer, and edge.

The walk-in pantry is one of our favourite features of this build. There's a reason families ask for them more than ever β€” proper food storage, small appliance space, and a place to hide the everyday clutter so the main kitchen can stay clean and uncluttered.

Stone benchtops, splashback, sink, and appliances next. After that, we're closing in on the finishes stage.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you imagine your dream kitchen, what's the one feature you wouldn't compromise on β€” walk-in pantry, big island, integrated appliances, or something else? Drop it below. πŸ‘‡

This is what every Pinnacle bathroom is built to feel like. ✨

A finished project from Panania β€” and a good reminder of why we plan every renovation the way we do.

Walk into a bathroom like this and you don't notice any one thing. You notice the whole. The way the marble-look walls meet the honed grey floor. The way the brushed brass tapware sits against the cool stone. The way the freestanding bath anchors the room without crowding it. The way the backlit niche pulls the eye forward without trying too hard.

A few details worth pointing out:
πŸ”Ή Marble-look porcelain on the walls β€” the warmth of natural stone, without the maintenance πŸ”Ή Honed grey stone-look floor β€” grounds the space and balances the lighter walls πŸ”Ή Backlit niche β€” soft ambient light, no spotlights needed for atmosphere πŸ”Ή Brushed brass tapware β€” timeless choice, ages beautifully, won't date in five years πŸ”Ή Freestanding bath β€” set off-axis to give the room a focal point without crowding the shower πŸ”Ή Round mirror with brass surround β€” softens the geometry of all those rectangular tiles πŸ”Ή Shaker vanity with a stone top β€” classic joinery profile, clean modern stone

That kind of finish doesn't happen by accident. It happens because every element is chosen to work with the next β€” before construction even starts.

This is the standard we hold every project to.

Milperra update β€” the tiling is going down. πŸ› οΈ

The kitchen, living, and bathroom are now being tiled β€” large-format tiles running through the entire open-plan space and flowing straight out to the new outdoor entertaining area.

Tiling at this scale isn't just about laying tiles. It's about:
πŸ”Ή Setting out from the right reference point so the pattern lines up across the whole space πŸ”Ή Levelling clips and lippage tabs on every tile to keep the surface dead flat πŸ”Ή Cutting precisely around skirting, doorways, and transitions so nothing looks "made to fit" πŸ”Ή Keeping a continuous flow from indoors to outdoors so the eye reads the space as one

Done well, you don't notice it. Done poorly, you'll feel every bump underfoot for the next two decades.

The Milperra build is starting to feel like a home now β€” and seeing the floors transform a space this big is one of the most satisfying parts of any project.

Cabinetry, splashbacks, paint, and final fixtures still to come. We'll keep you posted.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you renovate, do you prefer continuous tile through the whole living area, or do you like a transition between kitchen, living, and outdoors? Drop your answer below. πŸ‘‡

San Souci update β€” and the floors are really coming together now. ✨

A few weeks ago we shared the demo and prep stage on this project. Now we're on the other side: whole-of-home floor levelling complete, and tiling underway across both the main living areas and the bathroom.

Here's what's happening:
πŸ”Ή Whole-of-home levelling β€” every room brought to a consistent, true level so the new floors sit flat and the bathroom drains the way it should πŸ”Ή Large-format porcelain in the open living areas β€” clean, contemporary, and easy to live with πŸ”Ή Terracotta herringbone in the bathroom β€” bold, warm, full of character. A real hero detail that's going to anchor the whole space πŸ”Ή Laser-guided alignment β€” so every line stays straight and every transition reads clean

This is the project we've been calling "patience pays off." All that prep work β€” the demo, the levelling, the careful inspection of the subfloor β€” now it's showing up in floors that sit flat, lines that run square, and a finish that's going to hold up for the next twenty years.

A reminder of why this matters: a bathroom is only as good as what sits underneath it. Skip the prep stages and you're carrying every flaw straight into the finished result.

Take the time, do it properly, and you get a floor that looks right and stays right.

The reveal on this one is going to be good. We can't wait to share it.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you imagine a bathroom floor, do you go bold like terracotta herringbone β€” or stay safe with classic stone-look porcelain? Drop your answer below. πŸ‘‡

Milperra update β€” gyprock is up. πŸ› οΈ

The new extension at our Milperra build has officially moved past framing. This week:
πŸ”Ή Insulation packed into every external wall πŸ”Ή Gyprock sheets fixed and joints set πŸ”Ή Cornice and ceiling junctions run square πŸ”Ή Skylight integrated into the new ceiling
This is one of those stages people don't think about much β€” but it's the moment a build actually starts feeling like a home. Bare timber framing turns into proper rooms.

Light starts behaving the way it will when the family moves back in. The volume of the space, the ceiling height, the natural light from the skylight β€” it all becomes real.

A couple of things we always insist on at this stage:

Insulation in every external wall. Not just thermal β€” it makes a real difference to acoustics inside the home too. You only get one chance to put it in.

Square-set ceilings where the design calls for it. Cleaner, more modern, more deliberate than a rounded cornice. Harder to do well β€” but worth it.

Skylights placed for purpose, not decoration. This one pulls natural light deep into the open-plan space, reducing the need for artificial lighting through the day.

Next stage: tiling. Then we start moving toward the finishes the family will actually live with.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you walk into a renovated home, what do you notice first β€” the light, the layout, or the finishes? Drop your answer below. πŸ‘‡

San Souci update β€” and the demo work continues. πŸ› οΈ

We're mid-build on this one, and this stage is all about getting the floors right across the rest of the home before we move into whole-of-home levelling.

It's a stage we're particular about, because the bathroom we're delivering depends on it. Here's why:
πŸ”Ή Stripped back to the right depth β€” not too shallow, not too deep. Just enough to expose what needs levelling. πŸ”Ή Subfloor cleaned and inspected β€” so any surprises are found and dealt with before the next stage, not after πŸ”Ή Site protected throughout β€” dust controlled, the rest of the home kept clean and liveable πŸ”Ή Materials removed cleanly β€” no leftover debris in cavities or under skirtings to cause issues later

A bathroom is only as good as what sits underneath it. Uneven floors, untrue surfaces, or rushed prep all show up in the finished result β€” sometimes immediately, sometimes years down the track when grout cracks or tiles lift.

Cutting corners here is one of the easiest ways to undo all the good work that comes after. We don't.
A massive thank you again to for handling the demo. Clean, controlled, and stripped exactly to where it needed to be. Same standard every section.

Levelling next. Then we keep moving toward the bathroom build proper. We'll keep you posted at every stage.

πŸ‘‰ Question for our followers: when you've renovated before, did the demo stage feel rushed, or did your builder treat it with the same care as the rest of the build? Drop your honest experience below. πŸ‘‡

This is what every Pinnacle bathroom is built to feel like. ✨

A finished project from Panania β€” and a good reminder of why we're so particular about the planning stage.

Walk into a bathroom like this and you don't notice any one thing. You notice the whole. The way the stone meets the tile. The way the light sits across the surfaces. The way the joinery lines up with the tapware. The way every transition β€” every grout line, every edge, every corner β€” has been thought through.

That kind of finish doesn't happen by accident. It happens because:
πŸ”Ή The layout was planned before demo started πŸ”Ή The materials were specified before pricing was locked in πŸ”Ή The trades were sequenced so each stage finished cleanly before the next began πŸ”Ή The details were sweated β€” because the details are what separate "renovated" from "considered"

A bathroom like this is what the family will live with every morning and every evening for the next twenty years. It deserves to be done properly.

This is the standard we hold every project to.
