There’s a lot more happening behind your CCTV system than simply recording footage.

What you’re seeing here is part of the video analytics setup on a CCTV system.

We can program specific areas within a camera’s view and set rules for what the system should monitor. In this case, we’re configuring detection around the pool area and roof.

Depending on the system and application, analytics can be used for things such as:

• Intrusion detection within a defined area
• Line crossing detection
• Human and vehicle detection
• Monitoring restricted or higher risk areas
• Creating more targeted notifications
• Reducing alerts caused by movement outside the area of interest

The green and yellow lines you can see aren’t part of the camera image, they’re the detection boundaries and areas we’re programming into the system.

It means your CCTV can do much more than provide footage after something has happened. When correctly designed and programmed, it can actively help identify activity in the areas you actually want monitored.

Installing the camera is only one part of the job, programming it correctly for the property is just as important.

Introducing the newest member of the APSD team - Emma.

Emma joined us just over a month ago as a Trade Assistant and in that short time she has already become a fantastic addition to the team.

Her work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn have really stood out. She’s taken everything in her stride, isn’t afraid to get stuck in and is doing an amazing job.

We’re also excited to share that Emma will soon be taking the next step and becoming APSD’s first apprentice! 👏

We’re looking forward to watching her skills and knowledge grow as she begins her apprenticeship with us.

You’ll be seeing plenty more of Emma out and about on APSD jobs, so make sure you say hi if you see her.

It might just sound like an alarm… but in an aged care facility, this sound can mean someone needs urgent help.

And this wasn’t a test.

While we were onsite at a Gold Coast nursing home, a real time Nurse Call Emergency Alarm activated in one of the wards.

In that moment, the system was doing exactly what it was designed to do. It alerts staff that someone needed urgent assistance.

It’s why testing, maintaining and keeping Nurse Call systems operating correctly is so important.

When an emergency happens, these systems need to work.
