Celebrating some recent Sorel Awards finalist entries ๐Ÿ†

Weโ€™re proud to share details of the outstanding projects that we showcased in our entries to the 2025 Sorel Awards.
The annual Sorel Awards are presented by the Galvanizers Association of Australia, recognising innovation, collaboration, and excellence in hot dip galvanizing.

Furphy Geelong - Queenscliff Ferry Terminal ๐Ÿšข
Over 170 tonnes of galvanized steel shaped into an award-winning coastal terminal. Delivered in collaboration with architects and engineers, this project demonstrates the durability, aesthetics, and innovation made possible through galvanizing.

Furphy Shepparton - Kananook Station Maintenance Facility ๐Ÿ”ง
660+ tonnes of structural steel hot dip galvanized for CPE Construction, supporting the Southern Program Alliance. A showcase of precision logistics, compliance to AS/NZS 4680, and galvanizing craftsmanship in complex public infrastructure.

Furphy Albury - Modular Solar Canopy, Canyon Solar โ˜€๏ธ
A cutting-edge solar structure installed in just 5 weeks. Generates 167kW and offsets ~155 tonnes of COโ‚‚ annually, setting new benchmarks in sustainable car park design with galvanized modular steel.

These achievements reflect the strength of collaboration and the power of galvanizing to deliver long-lasting, sustainable results across diverse industries.

A little reminder that corrosion never takes a day off โ€” even in rural areas!

Take these rose trellises at the Albury Botanical Gardens.
A coat of paint wasnโ€™t enough to keep rust at bay, and now theyโ€™re due for full replacement.

If theyโ€™d been hot-dip galvanized, the coating would still be protecting them today.
Lesson learned: galvanize it once, protect it for decades.

๐ŸŒŸ Proud to Support a Great Cause! ๐ŸŒŸ

Furphy is proud to be a sponsor of Life's Little Treasures Foundation and their Walk for Prems Mighty Trek Challenge!

Today, the trek made its way to Albury, and our team at Albury Galvanizing proudly participated in the walk to showcase our support for this important charity.

Lifeโ€™s Little Treasures Foundation is dedicated to supporting families with premature babies through financial assistance, accommodation, essential supplies, and moreโ€”making a vital difference during such a challenging time.

This month, the Mighty Trek event will see our volunteers push a specially modified humidicrib, crafted by our Stainless Fab team at Furphyโ€™s in Shepparton, 40 km each day as it travels from Sydney through regional areas, including Goulburn, Albury, Wagga, Wangaratta, Shepparton, Bendigo, Ballarat, and Geelong.

Together, we can make a meaningful impact! ๐Ÿ’™

It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the sudden passing of our colleague, Jeffrey Robinson.

Robbo was a much loved member of our team, and his contribution, positivity, and commitment will be greatly missed by all of us.

As a mark of respect and to support his family, our operations will be temporarily closed on Thursday the 4th of September and will resume on Friday the 5th of September.

Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and professionalism as we navigate this loss together.

With sympathy,

Brent Hallows
General Manager

This Anzac Day, Albury residents commemorate a significant historical eventโ€”the centenary of the Albury War Memorial. Affectionately referred to as The Monument, this celebrated landmark has overlooked Monument Hill since 1925, paying tribute to the courageous soldiers of World War I. It serves as a quiet reminder of sacrifice, resilience, unity, and dedication. As dawn breaks this Anzac Day, we pause to honour the legacy of these heroes and the community that continues to cherish their memory each passing year.
Lest we forget.

We are thrilled to see our 2024 Sorel Award-winning project showcased in the latest edition of Galvanize magazine!

These stunning bridges, located in Hallett Cove, South Australia, are a sight to behold. But you donโ€™t need to venture that far to experience our work; we have recently completed a bridge in Griffith. Additionally, a magnificent bridge can be found in the Upper Murray region near Jingellic, along the Hume and Hovell Track.

Itโ€™s definitely worth seeking out its location for a memorable bushwalk!

Albury Galvanizing is a proud supporter of Black Dog Ride.

Black Dog Ride began in 2009 as a ride to raise awareness of depression, evolving into a national charity involving thousands of Australians who have raised millions for mental health programs and fostered mental health awareness around the nation.

This morning we kicked off the 2025 Ride from Wodonga Racecourse, to Tallangatta, Kiewa, Yackandandah and return.
If you missed it this year and love riding motorcycles, add it to your calendar for next year.

In 2025, Albury Galvanizing is embarking on a transformative journey with a significant site redevelopment project. This project will involve the construction of new offices, car park, factory facilities, maintenance/storage sheds representing a major investment in the future of galvanizing in the region.

The journey towards this milestone began in 2024, with the bittersweet task of bidding farewell to our original plant, which had been with us since 1995. The memories of the countless galvanizing projects and the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly in that facility over the years will always hold a special place in our hearts. We owe a great deal of our success to that plant, but as we look towards the future, we knew that it was time to say goodbye and embrace new beginnings.
