All in support of Mullets for Mental Health.
The boys have fully committed, growing (and now chopping) some seriously impressive… and questionable 😂 mullets.

The head of a Kalgoorlie-based engineering firm says he expects the adoption of robotic technologies to become more commonplace across regional WA after winning a $90,000 State Government grant towards new state-of-the-art equipment.

Hydramech Engineering specialises in repairing underground mining equipment and began using robotics for the precision machining of parts when the pandemic disrupted international supply chains.

The company has received a $90,000 grant, via the government's Regional Economic Development Grants program, to partially fund a new Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Measuring Machine.

Hydramech's Steve Nappy says the technology has increased productivity and upskilled the company's workforce.

"From about 2020, 2021 we started to explore with robotics," he said.

"We now have robotic manufacturing on the CNC, we have robotic welding.

"It just gives us better value for money on our labour costs, our people can do more, we're just giving them the right tools."

This morning Minister for Regional Development, Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, visited REDs Grant recipient, Hydramech Engineering to see their cutting-edge CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine and launch the opening of Round 8. This funding round supports projects that help drive economic growth in the Goldfields-Esperance region.

Eligible organisations can apply for up to $250,000 for projects that:
✅ Increase or sustain local jobs
✅ Expand or diversify industry
✅ Develop skills and capability
✅ Boost productivity
✅ Attract new investment to the region

The RED Grants are a State Government initiative supporting long-term regional development in WA.
