A quick AC tip that starts outside your home. 🌿

I regularly see outdoor air-conditioning units surrounded by overgrown plants, leaves, stored items or other obstructions.

Your outdoor unit needs good airflow to release heat effectively. Restrict that airflow and your system may have to work considerably harder than it should.

Have a look around yours this weekend. Keep the area clear, remove accumulated leaves and avoid stacking anything directly around it.

Just don’t dismantle or work inside the unit yourself,that’s a job for a qualified technician.

A simple check outside can make a difference to what’s happening inside.

❄️ Is Your Air Conditioner Low on Refrigerant?

If your air conditioner is running but just isn’t cooling or heating like it should, low refrigerant could be part of the problem.

Refrigerant doesn’t normally get “used up”. If the level is low, there may be a leak somewhere in the system that needs to be found and addressed.

Some warning signs can include:

🧊 Ice forming on coils or refrigerant lines
🔊 Unusual noises from the system

Some of the most common issues I find during a service include:

🌀 Dirty air filters – Restrict airflow, reduce efficiency and make your system work much harder.

⚡ Failing capacitors – These vital electrical components help start and run your air conditioner. When they begin to fail, your unit may struggle to start or stop working altogether.

❄️ Low refrigerant levels – If your system is low on refrigerant, it won't cool properly and may indicate there's a leak that needs professional attention.
