Two jobs. One little town in the middle of the Northern Territory. And a whole lot of life outside of work.
Hohns Anything Metal has been in Katherine since 1982 โ family-owned, still family-run, and known around the region for being able to make just about anything out of metal. We're growing, and we've got two seats to fill.
๐ง LIGHT SHEET METAL FABRICATOR โ $100,000โ$115,000 + super Trade-qualified. Custom work in stainless, aluminium and Colorbond. MonโFri, 7:30amโ4:30pm.
๐๏ธ STEEL YARD CO-ORDINATOR / STOREMAN โ $70,000โ$75,000 + super Hands-on and reliable. Serving customers, cutting steel, running a busy yard.
Both are permanent full-time, both have an immediate start, and both need a driver's licence, white card, forklift licence and Aussie work rights.
Now here's the part a job ad doesn't tell you.
Katherine is a small town and we won't pretend otherwise. But let us tell you what a Saturday looks like.
Nitmiluk Gorge is half an hour up the road โ thirteen gorges, sheer red walls, and a canoe if you feel like earning your lunch. An hour north there's a waterfall you can swim under. An hour south, the thermal springs at Mataranka sit at about 32 degrees all year and you just float there and let the day go. There's barra in the rivers, fires that burn late, dry-season markets, and sunsets that stop people mid-sentence.
Your commute is under ten minutes. Nobody sits in traffic. You knock off at 4:30 and the whole afternoon is still yours. Kids ride their bikes to their mates' place. You'll know your neighbours' names inside a fortnight, and they'll know yours.
We work hard here, then we actually go and enjoy where we live. That's the deal.
So if you're a tradie who's had enough of the big-city grind, or someone who's been quietly thinking about a change and just needed a reason โ this might be it.
