The sun is shining, and our Foxground project is cooking 🔥

After months of heavy structural preparation and locking in the rammed earth, the internal spaces are coming together. The insulation is packed, the rough-ins are sorted, and the plasterboard is going up. We are getting incredibly close to that final push.

The Invisible Details

Often, the best architectural details are the ones you’ll never even notice. It not just about the grand features… it’s about what happens where those features meet.

It also has to be practical, giving consideration to the little things (like consciously changing materials in a high-traffic zone for better wear and tear) makes a massive difference to how a home ages. By creating a custom reveal finished in a highly durable, washable paint, we retain that sharp, continuous shadow line while ensuring it can actually handle daily life.

Flawless. Unnoticeable. That’s the goal 👌

A flawless rammed earth wall starts with the mix.

It begins with a raw blend of aggregate, sand, and clay to create those beautiful, organic layers of colour and texture. Next, a custom and site-specific percentage of cement is added as a stabiliser, transforming the raw soil into a load-bearing, weather-resistant powerhouse. Then, the secret weapon: a specialised liquid admixture is mixed straight in to combat efflorescence, ensuring chalky white salt deposits never leach to the surface and ruin the architectural finish. Once combined with just enough water to mimic the feel of damp beach sand, the material is ready to be loaded into our custom formwork and rammed into place.
Voilà.

The walls are on their way up, this job is sure to be a showstopper!

The Luke Mahony boys are back, the sun is shining and the walls are going up.

There is zero margin for error with this material. Once the earth is rammed and cured, it’s set like stone. You can’t shift a wall an inch to the left, retro-fit forgotten plumbing, or change your mind on design! Every single pipe, conduit, and structural junction has to be locked in right now, and with absolute precision.

Every centimetre counts, every conversation is had now.
