In November 2025, UEA employees past and present & key suppliers celebrated UEA’s 30 years of being in business – a significant milestone! This event was a special moment to reflect and acknowledge the people who have helped shape UEA over this period.

As part of our celebrations our team included a tribute video for Keith, recognising the vision, leadership and hard work that has been at the centre of UEA since the very beginning. Using old photos, new photos and the words of some of our staff, the video captures the growth of UEA since day one.

Drilling has commenced on the Richmond System Wastewater Upgrade for BMD Group and Sydney Water. Beginning with boring out the case pipe via auger, UEA will then commence pilot boring towards exit almost 1.2km away. Check out those cobbles!

Mobilisation of the HDD spread including our Gallagher 660 is complete and ready to commence drilling in Richmond for BMD Group and Sydney Water.

Our commissioning team is back from a whirlwind trip to Herrenknecht’s German headquarters for the Factory Acceptance Testing of our purpose built HK300-Special 300t HDD rig.

Custom designed in close collaboration with Herrenknecht and shaped by tens of thousands of hours of successful drilling, this really is a Special rig.

Specifically engineered to reduce emissions while providing higher levels of operator comfort and efficiency through its hybrid power unit. We look forward to showcasing this on upcoming major projects.

At the end of 2025, 880metres of 800mm PN20 was successfully installed over a period of three consecutive days. The large diameter installation was a crucial part of tying in the sewer main from Landsdowne Reserve to Carrawood Park. Due to the nearby residential areas and to minimise the extent of the construction boundary, the pipe string was welded in three lengths. Two golden welds were completed during the installation. Our team thank West Region Delivery Team for entrusting us with this complex installation and the opportunity to work in conjunction with their team again.

Where it all began! 30 years ago, the TT 10S GrundoDrill went to work in Australia. UEA’s first drill had percussion mode – suitable for harder ground which was standard in and around the Canberra region. How things have changed!

UEA is proud to announce that we have been awarded the HDD scope by Vaughan Civil for the Wilton Integrated Services Program Package 5B. This scope consists of three 670 metre road and land crossings to install 250mm, 560mm and 800mm PN20 HDPE recycled and potable water mains. We thank Vaughan Civil for the opportunity to work together in delivering these works for ACCIONA and Sydney Water.

Drilling has now commenced at our second site for the Wilton 5A Package of works, with 1 out of the 4 pilots underway for the installation of the 250mm, 560mm and 2x 800mm HDPE pipes. We thank Sydney Water, Athassel Civil and ACCIONA once again for providing this opportunity to work on the Wilton Integrated Services Program Package 5A - our team is excited to deliver this project.

Happy New Year!

With Christmas and New Years celebrations over, UEA has returned for another exciting year of Maxi HDD! We have three of our crews remobilising to our existing sites for the Wilton 5A works and the Richmond System Wastewater Upgrade, with a fourth ready for another upcoming HDD package in Sydney. Our team is looking forward to continuing these projects and we're excited for the opportunities to come. Watch this space for updates!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our team to yours!

As we wrap up 2025 here at UEA, we reflect proudly on the year and all that we had to achieve: celebrating our 30th anniversary, the launch of our new website and the completion of multiple complex and unique HDD projects including communication bundles, large pressure pipes up to DN800 PN20, multiple ocean outfalls around Australia and an 1840m on-grade sewer HDD – UEA’s longest ever bore! This year was a true testament of the growth that is yet to come.

We thank all our clients, partners, suppliers and our UEA team for making this year a successful one and we look forward to another year full of innovation, collaboration and success.
