Just a sneak peek at the everyday work behind Arbuthnot Sawmills.

It all comes together thanks to our wonderful team doing what they do best: operating the machinery, handling the timber and keeping things moving each day.

Most locals would have crossed the Barham Koondrook Bridge more times than they could count.

Built in 1904, it has linked our twin towns for more than 120 years. The lift span allowed paddle steamers to pass along the Murray, back when riverboats and the Redgum timber industry were a big part of life here.

The bridge, the paddle steamers and Arbuthnot Sawmills each have their own place in our local history and remain iconic to Koondrook today.

What memories do you have of the bridge?

What Murray region structure was built in 1904, is heritage listed and connects two Aussie states?

You are looking right at it! The Barham Koondrook Bridge.

One of the oldest lift span bridges on the Murray River, it continues to link the twin towns of Barham and Koondrook, surrounded by stunning natural beauty 🍃

Have you been to this beautiful part of the Murray?
