We are looking for a hands on, highly motivated, strong individual to run and manage the end to end job workflow for our protective coatings department. From the time a PO is accepted through to client delivery and final invoicing.
The successful candidate will be a quick learner, have strong organisation and planning skills, be able to multi task, troubleshoot day to day issues, and lead and motivate a workshop team.
Heka Group has over 14 years’ experience in steel and aluminium fabrication and offers an end to end solution, providing project design and drafting, fabrication, protective coatings and installation. The business has experience in defence, mining, rail, civil, commercial, and residential projects across Australia. Heka Group's impressive workshop is complemented by the largest protective coatings facility on the Sunshine Coast, including sandblasting booth, paint bays and a purpose built powder coating oven.
The Role -
- End to End Workflow Management - Deliver correct client requirements to high standard on time
- Management across all areas of this department, sandblasting, paint, powder coating
- Tagging goods & creating job cards as work comes in
- Adding correct pricing info to job cards as agreed with Coatings Sales & QA Manager/Director
- Working with Heka Group to understand internal client requirements by job
- Scheduling jobs at least 2 weeks in advance
- Managing powder-coating loads to drive efficiencies and maximise labour productivity
- Liaising with clients on requirements and deadlines
- Troubleshooting unforeseen issues
- Alerting Coatings Sales & QA Manager / Director to any quality issues
- Managing pick-up and delivery with either client or logistics coordinator
- Sending completed job cards to finance for Xero invoice processing
Procurement + Stock Management
Ensure correct products are on hand in line with bob schedule and that staff have correct equipment etc. whilst considering cash flow impact.
- Procurement of Materials + Consumables
- Materials Stock Management
Coatings Team Management
Manage roster and timesheets for coatings staff in line with staff availability and job schedule, whilst driving deadlines, load efficiencies and labour productivity.
- Ensuring any timesheet queries have been answered weekly for payroll / management purposes
- Working with the management team to deal with any staff issues including attendance, safety and performance issues as they arise.
- Owning and maintaining a detailed by person/role roster at least 2 weeks in advance

- Quick to troubleshoot and pro-actively react to issues as they arise
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Commanding and firm, yet fair and flexible interpersonal skills
- Protective Coatings experience highly regarded but not essential
